What home tuition costs in Jalandhar

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science home tutor in Jalandhar for Classes 6 to 10: one teacher for all three sciences until the streams split

Middle-school science is three subjects in one book: numbers and units, symbols and equations, diagrams and new words. A Jalandhar child may meet them in a Punjab School Education Board textbook, an NCERT book for a CBSE school or a CISCE text, and often hears them explained at home in Punjabi or Hindi. A good home tutor keeps all three strands moving, teaches from the book your child actually carries, and comes at the same hour each week. NXTutors sends two or three science tutors for that job, each with the fee shown, and the first class is a free demo.

What should a science tutor be working on in each class?

The CBSE and ICSE guidance on this page is by Aaditya Kashyap. Find your child's class in the table and use the last column as a quick check at home.

Home science tuition in Jalandhar from Class 6 to Class 10: the main job at each stage, and a sign a parent can look for
ClassThe tutor's main jobA sign that it is working
6 and 7Turn each activity in the book (NCERT's Curiosity for CBSE, or the school's own text) into a written line and a labelled sketchThe child reaches for the scientific word rather than an everyday one
8Help the child see physics, chemistry and biology as separate subjects; start numericals and word equationsNo numerical answer is left without its unit
9Absorb the step up, when motion graphs, particles of matter and the cell all land in one yearA shaky chapter is mended within weeks instead of waiting for the finals
10Read every chapter through the board's marking and write answers to timeAt least once a month, a complete section is attempted under exam conditions

Until the streams divide after Class 10, a single tutor for physics, chemistry and biology is usually the wiser choice: one person who sees all of the child's work can tell whether a wrong numerical comes from weak arithmetic or from a concept that never landed. The national science home tutor page explains our approach, and there are separate pages for Class 6 and Class 8.

My child studies under the Punjab board. What should the science tutor do?

The Punjab School Education Board prescribes its own curriculum and textbooks and holds the Matriculation examination at the end of Class 10. Its website publishes the syllabus, a question bank, the structure of the question paper and model test papers. We do not describe the PSEB science paper here; the version on pseb.ac.in is the one to trust. Chapters may look familiar from NCERT, yet a PSEB child is examined on the board's own book, so the tutor's plan should start there.

Three questions sort out most PSEB matches. Will the tutor teach from the board's book and use its question bank after each chapter? Can they explain in the language your child writes the paper in? And will labelled diagrams and balanced equations be practised every week, whatever the board? Our Punjab board tutors in Jalandhar page covers the board in more depth.

What if my child understands science in Punjabi but must write it in English?

Many children follow an idea easily when it is talked through at home, then drop marks because the precise term deserts them in the exam hall. Where Punjabi or Hindi is spoken at home and English is the language of the paper, three small routines help:

  • Hear it, label it, use it. The new word is heard first, then labelled on a sketch, then put into a line of the child's own writing.
  • A word book with two columns. The exam term on one side and the child's own meaning on the other; the tutor tests a few aloud at the start of each visit.
  • Written work in the exam language. Discussion can switch languages freely, but answers on paper never do.

How are the CBSE Class 10 science marks divided?

The board paper is worth 80, and the school awards the other 20 in four parts of five marks: periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio, and subject enrichment through practical work. Within the 80, the units carry these marks:

  • Chemical Substances (25 marks): chemical reactions, acids and bases, metals and non-metals, carbon. Home habit: name and balance a few equations at every sitting.
  • World of Living (25 marks): life processes, how the body controls and coordinates, reproduction, heredity. Home habit: one diagram a week drawn without the book.
  • Effects of Current (13 marks): circuits, resistance, magnetism from current. Home habit: units on each line of a numerical.
  • Natural Phenomena (12 marks): light, the eye, dispersion and scattering. Home habit: arrowheads on every ray.
  • Our Environment (5 marks): brief, so a short revision is enough to keep these marks safe.

CBSE also weights the paper by competency: 50% for knowledge and understanding, 30% for application and 20% for analysis and evaluation, so pure memorising covers only half the marks. Read our CBSE Class 10 science notes for each chapter, and the Class 10 science tutor page shows how we plan the board year.

What kinds of question make up the CBSE science paper?

Twenty one-mark questions
Multiple-choice and assertion–reason items. Drill them fast, and ask the child to justify each choice out loud.
Six two-mark answers
Two separate points earn two marks; extra lines earn nothing.
Seven three-mark answers
A statement, the reason behind it and an example, with a quick sketch if it adds something.
Three four-mark case or source questions
The passage or data is read in full before any answer is written, and the answer stays inside the question.
Three five-mark long answers
Four or five well-separated points, supported by a diagram or an equation.

That makes 39 questions in all. For practice, the sample papers and marking schemes CBSE posts on cbseacademic.nic.in before each exam are worth more than any guidebook.

Which topics are left to the school, and how do the two exams work?

Three topics are kept off the 2026-27 board paper and marked in school instead. They are the periodic classification of elements, evolution, and the motor, the generator and electromagnetic induction. They still count internally and return in Class 11, so teach them, but keep final revision for board chapters. The curriculum lists 14 experiments, and board questions can be built on any of them, so a tutor should go back over the practical file before the exam.

Class 10 now has a main exam that everyone sits and a later optional exam for those who want to improve as many as three subjects, science included. CBSE has not yet posted 2027 dates on cbse.gov.in, so treat the main sitting as the one that counts. The board-year planner gives a month-by-month view.

Why does Class 9 science need its own plan this year?

CBSE Class 9 science has moved to a new NCERT textbook, Exploration, in the 2026-27 curriculum, though the year still ends in an 80-mark exam with 20 internal marks. The heaviest theme is matter (27 marks), then the living world (25), then motion, force, work and sound (23), with Earth as a system worth 5. Notes from the old book will not line up with it. The Class 9 science tutor page has more.

How is ICSE science different?

CISCE treats ICSE science as three subjects, so a Class 10 student writes a Physics paper, a Chemistry paper and a Biology paper, and internal marks sit with each one. Each school picks its own textbooks inside the council's syllabus. A tutor should therefore work from the school's books plus CISCE's specimen papers, and insist on precise definitions and numericals carried through to the final answer. Say ICSE in your first message; online lessons can widen the choice.

How does your colony shape the after-school science slot?

Younger children tire by evening, so a nearby tutor helps. Here is what to settle in six colonies; every colony's tutors are on our Jalandhar page.

Six Jalandhar colonies: where each sits, and what to tell a science tutor before the first class
ColonyWhere it sitsTell the tutor
Lajpat NagarAn Improvement Trust scheme on Model Town RoadWrite "Jalandhar" with the colony name, since Delhi has a Lajpat Nagar too; add the street and a nearby chowk
New Jawahar NagarThe Model Town Road side, listed in the master plan as a community centreThe full name "New Jawahar Nagar", then the house number and lane
Avtar NagarClose to Model Town and GTB NagarHouse number, street and a turning people recognise
Mota Singh NagarAn Improvement Trust colony on Garha Road, recorded as Master Mota Singh NagarName Garha Road as the road you turn in from; if two children need lessons, say so in one request
Chhoti BaradariA PUDA colony on Garha Road, built in two phasesPhase I or Phase II first, because both share one name
Jalandhar CanttThe cantonment, run by its own Cantonment BoardAny entry rules the tutor must follow, shared before the demo

The Model Town and GTB Nagar and Cantonment and Rama Mandi zone pages add local tips, and the Jalandhar home tuition guide covers the whole city.

Which habits should a science tutor build, and how can you spot them in the demo?

Whatever the board, examiners reward the same small disciplines. Light: every ray has an arrow, and a virtual ray is drawn dotted. Electricity: standard circuit symbols, the ammeter in series, the voltmeter in parallel. Biology: the heart, the alimentary canal and the nephron labelled with correct spelling. Chemistry: equations balanced, and state symbols added when asked. Genetics: the cross written out in full rather than jumping to the ratio.

During the free demo, let the tutor take whatever chapter school is on this week, and notice whether these disciplines appear without anyone asking for them. Our demo checklist for parents lists more to look for. If the match feels wrong, another tutor from your shortlist can give a demo, and moving to a new tutor later costs nothing.

What does a science home tutor in Jalandhar cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor names a price, which shifts with the class, the board, how far they ride to reach you and how many visits a week you want. All of it is visible before the demo, and our Jalandhar home tuition fees article suggests what to ask.

How do you get started?

Send us the class and board, the part of science that troubles your child, your colony and a landmark, and the afternoons you can offer. You receive two or three science tutors with fees attached and pick one to meet at a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors). If nobody suitable is free at your hour, we propose online lessons or a blend. Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram.

From Class 11 each science has its own page in Jalandhar: physics, chemistry and biology, while maths tutors in Jalandhar covers the other core subject. Science Home Tutor in Jalandhar: common questions

What does a science home tutor in Jalandhar charge for Classes 6 to 10?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Jalandhar science tutors set their own fees, and the class, board and number of weekly visits shape each quote. You see every fee before the free demo.

Is one tutor enough for physics, chemistry and biology before Class 11?

One science tutor is usually enough until the streams divide after Class 10. A single tutor sees all of a child's work, so they can tell whether a wrong numerical comes from arithmetic or from a missing idea. Separate subject tutors make more sense from Class 11, when each science gets its own board paper.

How should a tutor teach PSEB science to a Jalandhar student?

The tutor should teach from the Punjab School Education Board's own science textbook. Plans should follow what the board publishes on pseb.ac.in: the syllabus, the question bank, the structure of the question paper and the model test papers. Diagrams and balanced equations should be practised every week, in a language your child follows.

How are the 80 CBSE Class 10 science board marks split by unit?

In 2026-27, Chemical Substances and World of Living carry 25 marks each, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school adds 20 internal marks, five each for periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and practical-based subject enrichment. Half the board paper tests knowledge and understanding.

Which Class 10 CBSE science topics are assessed only in school?

For 2026-27, three topics stay off the board paper: the periodic classification of elements, evolution, and the motor, generator and electromagnetic induction. They still count for internal marks and return in Class 11, so a Jalandhar tutor should teach them properly while giving final revision time to the board chapters.

What changed in CBSE Class 9 science this year?

Class 9 now uses NCERT's new textbook, Exploration, under the 2026-27 curriculum. The exam is still 80 marks plus 20 internal, with matter worth 27, the living world 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5. Older notes from the previous book will not match the new chapters.

How can a science tutor help a child who thinks in Punjabi but writes in English?

A tutor can link each new term to a sketch and a line the child writes. A two-column word book of exam terms and the child's own meanings helps, and answers on paper should stay in the exam language. Discussion can still move between Punjabi, Hindi and English while the idea settles.

What should Lajpat Nagar and Chhoti Baradari families add to a science tutor request?

In Lajpat Nagar, write Jalandhar beside the colony name, because Delhi has a Lajpat Nagar too, and add the street and a nearby chowk. In Chhoti Baradari, a PUDA colony on Garha Road, put Phase I or Phase II first, since both phases share one name. Then add the class, board and free afternoons.

How does NXTutors find a science tutor for a Jalandhar child in Classes 6 to 10?

Share the class, board, weak strand of science, colony and free afternoons, and we send two or three matched science tutors. Each fee is shown before you choose, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free if the first tutor does not suit your child.
