Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For many Jalandhar families the first question is "who can come to our house?" A better first question is "who is right for this subject, at this level?" Sometimes the answer lives two lanes away. Sometimes it is a teacher in Ludhiana, Chandigarh or another state who knows ISC chemistry or PSEB accountancy inside out. Live one-to-one online lessons let you choose on teaching alone, and they keep going through postings, winter evenings and busy exam months. This page explains when online suits a Jalandhar family, when a home tutor is still the better choice, how lessons are arranged through NXTutors, and how to make them work at the desk.
Senior Secondary accountancy, ISC computer science, IB or IGCSE papers, or JEE Advanced problems: the tutor who fits may not live in Jalandhar at all. Online, distance stops mattering.
Our cantonment zone notes describe families who arrive on a posting and expect another move. An online tutor can stay with the child through the next transfer, so the teaching does not restart every time the address changes.
Parts of the cantonment have visitor entry rules, and some homes in the old bastis sit down lanes that a new tutor struggles to find. Online removes that step entirely for weekly lessons.
After school, other classes and family time, the only gap may come late in the evening, especially in winter. A short online session needs no one to travel after dark.
Biology recall, vocabulary, Punjabi or Hindi grammar, a quick look at last night's homework: brief sessions several times a week suit a screen better than one long visit.
If you are still unsure, our home tutor or online tutor comparison and the article on online versus offline tutoring go through the trade-offs.
| Locality | Local point | A sensible pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Defence Colony | An Improvement Trust scheme on Cantonment Road; the name is shared with a Delhi colony | Home tutor for the core subject; online for a specialist elective |
| Ranjeet Nagar | Grouped by the master plan with Rama Mandi and the Defence Colony side | Home visits on weekdays, an online review at the weekend |
| Adarsh Nagar | On Bastian Road near the centre, reachable from most directions | Home tuition is easy to arrange; online for subjects where a specialist is needed |
| Vijay Nagar | Also on Bastian Road; the name exists in many cities, so addresses need care | Home for younger children; online for short daily checks |
| Basti Danishmandan | Close lanes and gali addresses; two spellings in use | Online keeps lessons going if the lane is hard to find or a parent cannot be home |
| Basti Bawa Khel | One of the historic bastis in the district administration's history of Jalandhar | Online suits programming, where tutor and student edit the same code |
The zone pages for Cantonment and Rama Mandi, Central Jalandhar and the Old Bastis, and our Jalandhar home tuition guide, add local detail.
| Course | Online works well for | Keep at home if |
|---|---|---|
| PSEB | English translation practice, social science map work on a shared screen, accountancy for commerce students | The child needs a Punjabi-speaking adult beside them to stay on task |
| CBSE | Competency questions from sample papers, third-language practice, recall checks | Class 10 maths working needs close watching |
| ICSE and ISC | Marking long answers, English literature, ISC electives with a specialist | Three sciences in Class 9 overwhelm the child |
| JEE (Main) | Timed sets on screen, since Paper 1 is computer-based | Physics set-up is the weak point |
| NEET (UG) | Biology recall, test reviews | Paper practice: NEET is a pen-and-paper test, so do mocks on paper |
Language is part of the choice too. NTA's 2026 bulletins offered both JEE (Main) and NEET (UG) in Punjabi as well as English and Hindi, so a student who plans to sit the paper in Punjabi can look for an online specialist who teaches in it. For computer science, PSEB's Class 10 paper gives 45 of 100 marks to practical work, including a record file and a project; online sessions with screen sharing suit that well. Board detail is on our Punjab board, CBSE and ICSE pages, and entrance detail on the JEE and NEET pages for Jalandhar.
Jalandhar locality pages list tutors in that area first, then the zone and the city, and after that online tutors from the rest of Punjab and India, each card saying where the tutor is based. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors). It is an identity check, not a police or background check; the demo is where you judge the teaching.
Give online lessons four weeks before judging them, then look for evidence rather than impressions:
If two or more of these are missing, raise it with the tutor first. If nothing changes, ask us for another match; the demo class checklist helps you test the next one.
A mix often works well: the tutor comes home once a week for new chapters and long working, and joins online once or twice for practice and checks. It keeps the human contact and saves the tutor a second trip. It also helps in winter, around board practicals, and when a cantonment family moves, because the online part simply continues. Ask any tutor at the demo whether they are willing to work this way.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The tutor cannot see the working | Fix a phone above the notebook, or use a tablet and stylus |
| The connection drops | Agree a fallback in advance: an audio call with photos of the page |
| The child is distracted by other tabs | One window only, camera on, and a parent within earshot |
| Homework never gets checked | Photos sent before each lesson, marked during the first part of it |
| Lessons slip without notice | A fixed weekly slot written on the family calendar |
Keep lessons in a shared space at home, not behind a closed door, at least at first. Use the video tool you and the tutor agreed, and keep messages in a family number or account that a parent can see. Never share passwords or payment details over a lesson chat. If anything feels wrong, end the lesson and tell us; switching tutor is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Online and home rates are each set by the tutor, and the fee is on the profile before you book. Read the pricing guide and our Jalandhar fees post for what moves it.
Send the class, board, subject, whether home visits are part of the plan, and the times that work. Book a free demo class, browse online tutors, or start from the Jalandhar home tutors page. Subject pages for Jalandhar include maths, science and English. Nearby, the Ludhiana, Amritsar and Chandigarh pages list tutors who may also teach online, and teachers can see Jalandhar tuition jobs.
Online tuition is the better choice in Jalandhar when the right specialist lives elsewhere or home visits are hard to arrange. It also suits a family that may move on a posting, a free slot that only opens late, and short frequent checks. For young children and long written working in maths or physics, a home tutor at the table is usually the safer choice.
Yes, a family in Jalandhar Cantt can keep the same online tutor after a transfer, because the lessons do not depend on the address. That spares the child a fresh start with a new teacher in the middle of a school year. Some families add a local home tutor for one subject at each new posting.
No, NXTutors does not run its own video classroom; the family and tutor agree the video app during the free first lesson. Set the demo request's Mode field to online and give the class, board and times. You get two or three matched tutors with fees shown, and switching tutor later is free.
An online tutor can see written working through a writing tablet and stylus, a shared whiteboard, or a second phone fixed above the notebook. Agree the method in the demo and test it then. Photos of homework sent before each lesson let the tutor mark them at the start, which keeps checking regular.
Online tuition suits parts of both NEET and JEE preparation for a Jalandhar student, though not every part. JEE (Main) Paper 1 was computer-based in 2026, so timed sets on screen are realistic practice. NEET (UG) was pen and paper, so do NEET mocks on paper even if lessons are online. Both exams were offered in Punjabi in 2026, so a Punjabi-speaking specialist online is an option.
In Basti Danishmandan and Basti Bawa Khel, where lanes are close and addresses use gali names, online lessons remove the trouble of a tutor finding the house each week. A laptop and a quiet corner are enough for most subjects. For programming, screen sharing lets tutor and student edit the same code together.
Online lessons are working if, after about four weeks, your child can explain last week's topic without the notebook. Other signs are that homework comes back marked, school test marks have stopped slipping, the tutor sends short progress notes and your child joins on time. If two or more are missing, talk to the tutor, then ask us for another match.
A Jalandhar child needs a steady connection, a laptop or tablet, and a way to show written work for online tuition. A phone works for short checks, not for long problems. Add headphones if the room is shared, keep the school's own book open in the version the tutor teaches from, and have a parent nearby for the first few lessons.
Yes, one tutor can teach your child at home and online, if the tutor agrees to it at the demo. A common pattern is a home visit once a week for new chapters and long working, plus one or two online sessions for practice and checks. It saves the tutor a second trip and carries on through winter, board practicals or a cantonment move.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own online and home rates, and you see the fee on the profile before the free demo.
