Tutoring in Jalandhar: what to know
NXTutors groups Jalandhar into five zones for tutors. Model Town and GTB Nagar holds the Improvement Trust colonies on Model Town Road and Nakodar Road: Model Town, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, New Jawahar Nagar and Avtar Nagar. Urban Estate and Garha Road covers the two Urban Estate phases beside the Nakodar railway line together with Mota Singh Nagar and Chhoti Baradari. Cantonment and Rama Mandi runs along Hoshiarpur Road to Jalandhar Cantt, Defence Colony and Ranjeet Nagar. Central Jalandhar means Central Town, Adarsh Nagar and Vijay Nagar near the old bazaars, and the Old Bastis zone takes in Basti Sheikh, Basti Danishmandan, Basti Guzan and Basti Bawa Khel, where addresses go by gali and mohalla.
Students here sit the Punjab School Education Board's Matriculation and Senior Secondary examinations, the CBSE papers, or ICSE and ISC under CISCE; a smaller number follow IB or IGCSE, usually with an online specialist. PSEB prescribes the textbooks its schools use and publishes syllabi, a question bank and model test papers on pseb.ac.in, so a tutor who already works from those books starts with an advantage. Some children read in English and think through ideas in Punjabi or Hindi, so say on your profile which languages you can teach in, and be ready to explain in one and help the student write in another.
Home visits, online lessons or a mix are all open to you. Picture a parent in Urban Estate Phase 2 sending a request: NXTutors picks two or three names, looking first at people living in that phase, next at anyone who already goes there, then across the zone, across Jalandhar and, last, online. Your fee is in front of the family before a free first demo, and switching to another tutor later costs them nothing. The planned colonies sit in tight clusters, so add only the neighbourhoods you can get to at lesson time week after week, keep home visits to them, and teach online beyond. Inside the cantonment, visitor entry rules can apply in some parts.

1
Sign up with a one-time code
Start by entering the one-time code we send to your phone or email. Add your subjects, classes and boards, PSEB, CBSE or ICSE among them, your teaching languages and the Jalandhar neighbourhoods you can get to.
-
2
Upload your ID for the ID check
Next, send a scan of a government photo ID, which our team looks at. This ID check, which tutors who join go through, settles your identity; it is no police or background check.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
On your profile, families see your boards, the neighbourhoods you cover from Model Town to Rama Mandi, your hours and the fee you set. The Verified badge is added only once our team has reviewed the ID.

4
A family nearby sends a request
Say a parent in Adarsh Nagar or Central Town gets in touch. NXTutors draws up two or three names: people living there come first, then tutors who visit there, then the zone, wider Jalandhar and online.
-
5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
Your fee is visible to the family ahead of any booking. The opening lesson is a free demo in their home, a parent asked to stay in, where you gauge the student's level and the hours school leaves free.

6
Teach at home, online or both
From there, teach at home in the neighbourhoods you picked, online to students elsewhere in Punjab or India, or a blend, such as a Saturday visit in Chhoti Baradari plus weekday video lessons.
Boards you can teach in Jalandhar
Jalandhar tutors teach students of the Punjab School Education Board, CBSE and CISCE, and now and then IB or IGCSE learners, most of them online. For PSEB, work from the board's own textbooks and the syllabi, question bank, question-paper structure and model test papers on its website, where date sheets also appear. Base CBSE lessons on NCERT and the published sample papers and marking schemes; ICSE and ISC on CISCE's regulations and specimen papers; IB and IGCSE on the official subject guides. State your boards, classes and teaching languages clearly on your profile.
PSEB
Middle (Class 8), Matriculation (Class 10), Senior Secondary (Class 12)
PSEB holds public examinations at Middle, Matriculation and Senior Secondary level and prescribes the curriculum, courses of study and textbooks. Its site lists syllabi, a question bank, the structure of question papers and model test papers, which give a Jalandhar tutor a ready base for practice. Ask at the demo whether the student reads in Punjabi, Hindi or English, and take every date only from pseb.ac.in.
With a CBSE student in Jalandhar, follow the NCERT chapter the school is on and practise with the sample question papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in, showing how marks are split across the steps of an answer. Siblings in one home may be on different boards, so check which books and calendar each child follows before you plan the weekly slot.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE at Class 10 and ISC at Class 12 bring many subjects, long written answers, prescribed English literature and project work. Prescribed texts change from time to time, so ask the family for the current book list and read the regulations and specimen papers on cisce.org. Spread revision over the year so no subject waits for the last month.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
IB Diploma students in Jalandhar most often learn with a specialist over video. Confirm the subject and level first, plan from the subject guides on ibo.org, and coach the method behind the Internal Assessment and the Extended Essay while every word stays the student's own. Keep one fixed weekly online slot that fits around the school day.
Settle at the start whether the papers are Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and which tier. Lessons then rest on past papers, the official mark schemes and command words such as describe, explain and evaluate. Cambridge syllabuses are on cambridgeinternational.org; for most Jalandhar learners an online specialist is the practical choice.
