What home tuition costs in Jalandhar

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths home tutor in Jalandhar: start from the board's own papers, then build the habits that hold

In a Jalandhar home, a maths notebook can belong to any of three systems. It may follow the Punjab School Education Board's Matriculation course, the NCERT book behind a CBSE paper, or a CISCE text chosen by the school. The chapters overlap, yet each examiner credits working in a slightly different way, and a tutor who blurs the three wastes weeks. So the first thing we ask is the board, then the class, then the colony and the hour you can offer. NXTutors replies with two or three maths tutors who fit, with each fee shown on the shortlist, and the first class is a free demo.

Which maths course is your child on, and what should you ask first?

Ajay Vatsyayan answers for the IB, IGCSE and ISC maths parts of this guide, and Abhinandan Tiwary for Class 10 maths under CBSE and ICSE. Punjab board details come from the board's own website.

IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSEIB; CambridgeIB papers plus an exploration; IGCSE Core or Extended tierWhich of these have you taught in the last two years?

How should a tutor prepare a PSEB student for the Matriculation maths paper?

The Punjab School Education Board was created by a legislative enactment in November 1969 to develop school education in the state, and a 1987 amendment to its Act gave it autonomy. It holds public examinations at three levels, Middle, Matriculation and Senior Secondary, and it prescribes the curriculum, the courses of study and the textbooks. Its office is Vidya Bhawan in SAS Nagar (Mohali). We do not print a PSEB maths mark split on this page. The board publishes its own, and the version on its website is the one a tutor should plan from.

What the board does publish makes a good toolkit, and a Jalandhar tutor can build the Matriculation year from four of its documents:

  1. The current syllabus, read at the start of the session so the plan follows this year's chapters, not an older guidebook.
  2. The structure of the question paper, which shows how to balance short practice against long written answers.
  3. The question bank, dipped into after each chapter to see whether the method has stuck.
  4. The model test papers, kept for the closing months, when timed full papers matter most.

Language matters too. A tutor may explain in Punjabi, Hindi or English, but written answers should use the textbook's terms and the answer sheet's language from the first week. PSEB certificates for Classes 8, 10 and 12 are available on DigiLocker. Our Punjab board tutors in Jalandhar page covers the board across every subject.

For a CBSE Class 10 student, where do the 80 board marks come from?

In 2026-27 CBSE keeps the same paper design as last session and spreads 80 marks across 14 NCERT chapters, grouped into seven units. Listed from the heaviest unit to the lightest:

  • Algebra, 20 marks. Polynomials, pairs of linear equations, quadratic equations and arithmetic progressions. Word problems should be turned into equations before any solving begins.
  • Geometry, 15 marks. Triangles and circles. Every statement in a proof needs a reason written beside it.
  • Trigonometry, 12 marks. Including heights and distances, where a neat labelled figure comes before any ratio.
  • Statistics and probability, 11 marks. Grouped tables reward a student who checks each column before moving on.
  • Mensuration, 10 marks. Combined solids, with units carried through to the last line.
  • Real numbers and coordinate geometry, 6 marks each. Short questions that should be banked, not hurried.

Algebra and geometry together come to 35 of the 80, so a first term spent mostly on them is time well used. The Class 10 maths preparation guide takes each chapter in turn.

How is the CBSE Class 10 maths paper set out, section by section?

Section A
Twenty questions of one mark: eighteen multiple-choice and two assertion–reason. Practise them in quick sets, with the reason for each choice said aloud.
Section B
Five questions of two marks. Two or three clean lines of working are enough.
Section C
Six questions of three marks, where each step must be visible on the page.
Section D
Four questions of five marks, the long answers that reward a tidy layout.
Section E
Three case studies of four marks each. Read the situation twice before touching a number.

Calculators stay outside the hall, and π is taken as 22/7 unless a question says otherwise. Standard and Basic share the same chapters but not the same demand: around 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding, against around 75% in Basic. If maths in Class 11 is a real possibility, Standard is the safer choice. CBSE also holds an optional second Class 10 exam in which a student can try to improve up to three subjects, maths among them. Take its schedule only from cbse.gov.in, and see our board-year planner and the Class 10 maths tutor page.

What might a Class 10 maths year with a home tutor look like?

An outline for any of the three boards, assuming two home sessions a week; schools keep their own calendars.

StageMain work in the sessionsWhat the parent can check

Can one tutor handle Class 12 board maths and JEE Main together?

It can work if the week keeps the two jobs apart. The CBSE Class 12 paper has 38 compulsory questions for 80 marks, and calculus is worth 35 of them, so it deserves a place in every week rather than a rush in winter. JEE Main Paper 1 in 2026 had 75 questions for 300 marks. Maths supplied 25: twenty with options and five needing a numerical answer, scored plus four when right and minus one when wrong. NTA publishes each year's pattern on jeemain.nta.nic.in, so check it there.

With a coaching batch, one home session can clear the batch sheet's unsolved problems and the other can be a full board-style answer, marked before the tutor leaves; PSEB students can use the board's model test papers. Read the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide, our JEE maths topic-by-topic plan and the Class 12 maths tutor page.

ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE maths: what changes for the tutor?

  • ICSE Class 10. A written paper of 80 with 20 internal marks. Our ICSE Class 10 maths guide explains how working is credited.
  • ISC Class 12. For the 2027 and 2028 exams, CISCE sets a single 80-mark paper across seven units, with no choice left between Sections B and C. Vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability are therefore compulsory, and calculus carries 35 marks. Two projects add 20, each marked out of 10: format 1, content 4, findings 2 and viva 3. The ICSE and ISC maths guide has more.
  • IB Diploma. Analysis and Approaches centres on algebra, functions, calculus and proof and includes a non-calculator paper. Applications and Interpretation centres on modelling and statistics and uses a graphic display calculator throughout. SL has two papers at 40% each; HL has two at 30% and a third at 20%; the exploration, which must be the student's own work, makes up the final 20%. See the IB maths AA or AI guide.
  • Cambridge IGCSE. Core caps the grade at C, while Extended runs from A* to G. Settle the tier with the school well before entries close.

Name the course in your first message. If no specialist can reach you, an online tutor can take the course work while a local tutor marks practice.

What should you tell a maths tutor in six Jalandhar colonies?

These six colonies sit in three zones, and our Jalandhar page lists tutors by locality.

Model Town and GTB Nagar zone

Model Town is one of Jalandhar's older colonies, first laid out as a residential area; give the house number, the block and a chowk people know. In Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, an Improvement Trust scheme on Nakodar Road that most people call GTB Nagar, name the road you turn in from. Next door, Avtar Nagar is easiest to find with the street and a nearby turning. A tutor already teaching in one of the three can often add a student in another on the same afternoon.

Urban Estate and Garha Road zone

The state's housing department laid out two Urban Estates along the Jalandhar–Nakodar railway line. Urban Estate Phase 1 is now looked after by the Jalandhar Development Authority, and Urban Estate Phase 2 is the larger of the pair. Write the phase first, then the house number and block, because the two sit side by side and the numbering can mislead a newcomer.

Cantonment and Rama Mandi zone

Jalandhar Cantt is run by its own Cantonment Board, and visitor entry rules can apply in parts of it. Find out what a tutor will need and share it before the demo. Families who arrive mid-year after a posting should send the old board, the new board and the last report card, so the tutor can map the gaps first.

The zone pages for Model Town and GTB Nagar and Urban Estate and Garha Road add more local detail, and the Jalandhar home tuition guide covers the whole city.

What tells you, in one free demo, that a maths tutor is right?

Ask for this week's school chapter, with your child's last test on the table, and look for four things:

  • Reading before teaching. The tutor looks at a few of your child's own answers before explaining anything.
  • Mistakes sorted. A slip in arithmetic, a misread question and a missing idea are named separately, each with its own fix.
  • Working shaped for the board. The page looks the way a PSEB, CBSE or CISCE examiner expects to see it.
  • A clear next step. You leave knowing the next three topics and which homework will be checked.

If the fit is wrong, tell us and the next tutor on your shortlist gives a demo; switching tutor later is also free. The demo class checklist for parents has more questions, and home tutor or online tutor weighs a visit against a screen.

What does a maths home tutor in Jalandhar charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. Board, class, experience, the ride to your colony and sessions per week all move it. You see every fee before the demo, and our Jalandhar home tuition fees guide lists sensible questions to ask.

What should your request to us include?

Five details do the job: the class; the course by its full name (PSEB Matriculation or Senior Secondary, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your colony with a landmark; the days and times you can offer around school; and the fee range you have in mind. We send two or three maths tutors with their fees, and you choose one for the free demo. If nobody suitable can reach your colony at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India.

The national maths home tutor page explains our method, and maths tutors in Ludhiana shows the same service elsewhere in Punjab. In Jalandhar, the science and physics pages cover the next subjects up. Maths teachers who live in the city can find nearby students on the Jalandhar tuition jobs page.

Maths Home Tutor in Jalandhar: common questions

How much does a maths home tutor in Jalandhar cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Jalandhar maths tutors set their own fees, and each one is shown on your shortlist before the free demo, so you can compare before anyone visits.

What should a Jalandhar parent send NXTutors to get a maths tutor shortlist?

Send the class, the full course name, your colony with a landmark, the hours free around school and a fee range. With those five details we reply with two or three matched maths tutors and their fees. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free if the fit is wrong.

Which PSEB documents should a maths tutor use for a Matriculation student in Jalandhar?

A tutor should plan from the papers the Punjab School Education Board itself publishes on pseb.ac.in. That means the current syllabus at the start of the session, the structure of the question paper, the question bank after each chapter, and the model test papers in the closing months. Older guidebooks may not match the board's present course.

Can a Jalandhar maths tutor teach in Punjabi or Hindi?

Yes, many tutors explain in Punjabi or Hindi when that helps a child follow the method. The written answers, though, should use the textbook's terms and the language of the answer sheet from the first week. Tell us the medium your child writes the paper in, so the shortlist includes tutors who teach in it.

How are the 80 CBSE Class 10 maths marks spread across units?

Algebra carries 20 of the 80 board marks in 2026-27, geometry 15, trigonometry 12, statistics and probability 11, mensuration 10, and real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 each. Because algebra and geometry together make 35, a Jalandhar tutor who spends much of the first term on them is using the time well.

Should my Jalandhar child take CBSE Standard or Basic maths in Class 10?

Choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is a real possibility. Both levels share the same chapters, but about 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding, against about 75% in Basic, so Standard asks for more application. A tutor should look at your child's recent work before advising, and you should ask the school for its deadline.

What changes in ISC Class 12 maths for the 2027 and 2028 exams?

CISCE sets one 80-mark paper across seven units and removes the choice between Sections B and C. Vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability become compulsory, and calculus carries 35 marks. Two projects add 20, each marked out of 10 for format, content, findings and viva. Jalandhar families should name ISC clearly when they ask.

What should Jalandhar Cantt families tell a maths tutor before the first class?

Share the visitor entry rules that apply where you live, since they can apply in parts of the cantonment, and tell the tutor what they will need. If your child joined mid-year after a posting, send the old board, the new board and the last report card, so the tutor can map the gaps before starting new chapters.

Can one Jalandhar maths tutor handle Class 12 board work and JEE Main together?

One tutor can handle both if the week keeps the two jobs apart. One home session can clear unsolved problems from the coaching sheet and the other can be a full board-style answer, marked before the tutor leaves. CBSE Class 12 calculus alone carries 35 of 80 marks, so it needs time every week.
