What home tuition costs in Ghaziabad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

IB maths tutor in Ghaziabad: name the course and level, then solve the journey

In Ghaziabad, IB families are a smaller group than CBSE, ICSE or UP Board families, so the tutor who fits a particular Diploma maths course may live in Noida, East Delhi or on the far side of the Hindon. That changes the order in which a search should go: first pin down exactly which course, level and exam session your child is on, then find the person who teaches it, and only then work out whether they come home, teach online or do a bit of both. I teach IB, IGCSE and ISC maths on NXTutors; what follows takes those steps in order. For the wider picture, see our maths home tutors in Ghaziabad page and the IB tutors in Ghaziabad hub.

Four routes through one subject

Every Diploma student takes a single maths course, but "IB maths" covers four different things. The IB offers Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation, and each can be taken at Standard or Higher Level. All four draw on the same five topic areas, from algebra and number through functions, geometry with trigonometry and statistics with probability to calculus, yet they ask very different things of a student.

Analysis and Approaches (AA)

Exact values, algebraic manipulation, proof and calculus by hand. One paper is sat with no calculator at all. It is the usual choice for students looking at engineering, physics, computer science or economics with heavy maths.

Applications and Interpretation (AI)

Modelling, statistics and technology. The graphic display calculator (GDC) is used on every paper, and questions often start from a real situation the student must translate into mathematics. At HL it is a demanding course in its own right, not a softer AA.

Someone who shines at AA HL proof may be a poor fit for a student wrestling with AI SL statistics, which is why course and level are matched as a pair. If your child is still choosing, the AA, AI, SL and HL guide sets out the trade-offs, and our national IB maths tutor page covers the subject at length.

What is examined at each level

Teaching time is set at 240 hours for HL and 150 for SL. On the courses now being examined, the written papers make up four fifths of the grade and the internally assessed exploration the last fifth.

Current IB Diploma maths assessment, AA and AI
Part of the gradeHLSL
Paper 1Two hours; 30%Ninety minutes; 40%
Paper 2Two hours; 30%Ninety minutes; 40%
Paper 320%: two long problem-solving questions, calculator allowedHL only
Exploration, marked in school20%20%
CalculatorAA: Paper 1 is non-calculator. AI: GDC allowed on every paper

Paper 3 is where HL students most often feel lost. Each question begins somewhere comfortable and climbs, step by step, towards a result the student has never met, and the marks reward using an earlier answer with confidence even when it looks odd. That nerve comes from meeting Paper 3-style questions all through DP1, a few at a time, rather than from a pile of them in the spring of DP2. For AA students, the non-calculator paper needs its own routine: surds, logs, trigonometric exact values and differentiation done by hand, every week.

Check the exam session before choosing past papers

Both courses have been revised. Teaching of the new versions begins in August 2027, with first exams in May 2029; the two courses and the two levels all continue, and the IB presents the update as a refinement rather than a new subject. On AA, Papers 1 and 2 will be marked out of 100 instead of 110, and Paper 3 out of 50 instead of 55, with one hour for it. The exploration remains the internal assessment, now judged on criteria common to SL and HL, and exams still carry 80 percent of the grade.

So the session decides the materials. Anyone who entered DP1 in August 2026 takes the current course, with exams in May 2028; the revised course applies to those entering DP1 from August 2027. Put the session in your request, because practising from the wrong set of papers wastes weeks.

The exploration: where my help stops

The exploration is the student's own investigation of a mathematical question, written up in roughly 12 to 20 pages. Teachers mark it on how it is presented, how clearly the mathematics is communicated, the student's personal engagement, their reflection, and how well the mathematics itself is used; the IB then checks a sample of that marking. It is worth 20 percent at both levels, so it deserves real thought, but it must stay the student's work.

  • Fair help from a tutor: teaching whatever mathematics the idea calls for, syllabus or not; asking questions until a broad interest becomes a question the student can manage; showing what earns credit under each criterion, with the IB's own sample work; pointing out, without fixing it, that a passage is hard to follow.
  • Not allowed: picking the topic, writing or rewording sentences, carry out the calculations or modelling, draw the graphs, or edit drafts line by line. Doing any of this breaks the IB's academic-integrity rules and puts the diploma at risk. Students should tell their teacher about outside tutoring.

Ghaziabad offers questions a student can genuinely own: how e-rickshaw fares change with distance, how often trains run on the Blue Line branch at different hours, or how the shadow of a tower moves across a society lawn through the year. A modest question handled thoroughly with the student's own mathematics beats an ambitious one left half done.

Joining the Diploma from CBSE, ICSE, the UP Board, IGCSE or the MYP

Students arrive in DP maths from very different places. Those from CBSE or the UP Board are usually quick with standard methods but less used to questions that give almost no lead-in, and to writing out reasoning in full. ICSE students set out working neatly and often need more time with the GDC and with modelling. IGCSE Extended students know much of the algebra but meet it at a faster pace. MYP students, assessed on four criteria in maths, are at ease with open tasks and can be rattled by dense, timed papers.

The remedy is similar for all of them: a short bridging block before or early in DP1 that rebuilds algebra, functions and trigonometry, checked against IB markschemes. Our article on moving from CBSE to IB or IGCSE lays out a fuller plan that works for UP Board and ICSE students too, and students coming from Cambridge should also read the IGCSE maths tutor in Ghaziabad page.

Where IB maths tutors come from, and how they reach you

Because HL specialists are thin on the ground anywhere, an IB maths tutor for a Ghaziabad home is often someone who already crosses a border for work. The routes below come from our zone research:

  • Indirapuram. The pockets facing Noida suit tutors who live there: Ahinsa Khand 2 is almost all societies, with Noida Electronic City the nearest station and CISF Road clogged in the morning; Vaibhav Khand adds busy markets and the option of Noida Sector 62 station; Niti Khand 3 sits close to the Sector 62 office area, so evening slots need a little buffer.
  • Vaishali and Kaushambi. Vaishali is the end of the Blue Line branch, so a tutor from Noida or Delhi can come by metro and finish on foot or by e-rickshaw; the main roundabout fills at office hours.
  • Vasundhara. Sector 14 and Sector 18 both look to Vaishali station; Sector 14's active markets slow evening arrivals, and Sector 18's apartment blocks need the tutor on the visitor list.
  • Raj Nagar Extension and NH-9. Large townships with no metro; a specialist who lives inside your own township is worth asking for first, with online lessons for the rest.

The other zones, Sahibabad, Surya Nagar and Ramprastha and Raj Nagar and Old Ghaziabad, are covered on the Ghaziabad home tutors page along with every locality.

Home, online, or one of each

For IB maths in Ghaziabad the realistic question is usually the mix, not the mode. Three things settle it:

  1. Seeing the working. AA depends on watching each line of algebra. At the table that is easy; online it works only with a second camera pointed at the notebook.
  2. Seeing the calculator. AI and HL Paper 3 need the tutor to follow GDC keystrokes. A shared emulator, or a phone held over the keypad, makes that possible online.
  3. The evening traffic. Office hours on NH-9, CISF Road and the border roads can eat half a weekday session. Many families keep one weekend lesson at home and move the weekday one online.

Our comparison of online and offline tutoring goes through the general trade-offs.

How lessons are spread over the two Diploma years

International schools set their own terms, which rarely line up with the board-exam calendar most of your neighbours follow. A tutor should start from your school's dates.

A typical IB maths tutoring pattern
StageFocus of sessionsSessions a week
Just before or early in DP1Algebra, functions and trigonometry repair; GDC set-up for AITwo, for a few weeks
DP1Keeping pace with school; topic tests marked against markschemes; first Paper 3 problems for HLOne or two
Exploration periodMathematics for the student's idea; criteria explained; no draftingAs before, plus one if needed
DP2 to mocksGaps closed by topic; timed sectionsTwo
Mocks to MayFull papers by type, error log, Paper 3 sets for HLTwo or three

Seven checks during the IB maths demo

  1. Opening questions. Before any teaching, the tutor should want to know the course, the level and the exam session.
  2. Command terms. "Hence", "show that" and "write down" each mean something precise; a tutor who knows the IB explains them without pausing.
  3. Reading a marked test. Give the tutor one of your child's school tests and watch for method marks, accuracy marks and follow-through being told apart.
  4. The calculator. Non-calculator drill for AA; quick, confident GDC use for AI.
  5. Paper 3. For an HL student, ask when and how they would first bring it in.
  6. The exploration. The right answer sounds like "the mathematics comes from me, the decisions and the words from you".
  7. The route. Which station or road, and what happens on a jammed evening on NH-9.

Fees and getting started

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. With IB maths, the figure depends on course and level, how far the tutor travels and how often you meet; tutors set their own fees, and you see each one before the demo. See the pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Ghaziabad.

Tell us the course, level, exam session and DP year, what is going wrong, your khand, sector or society, and when the student is free. Two or three matched tutors come back to you; the first class with your choice is a free demo, and a later change of tutor costs nothing. Everyone who joins as a tutor goes through an ID check before the profile is marked Verified, and tutor profiles are open to browse. IB Maths Tutor in Ghaziabad (AA & AI, SL & HL): common questions

What does an IB maths tutor cost in Ghaziabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Course, level, travel and sessions per week move the figure; every fee is visible before the demo.

Can you find an AA HL or AI HL specialist who comes to our home in Ghaziabad?

Often, but HL specialists are fewer than general maths tutors, so we match on course and level first and the journey second. A tutor from Noida or East Delhi on your metro line may be the right choice. If nobody suitable can reach you every week, a weekend home lesson plus online weekday lessons keeps the right person.

Will my child sit the current IB maths course or the revised one?

That depends on the exam session. Students who began DP1 in August 2026 sit the current course in May 2028. The revised AA and AI courses are taught from August 2027 and first examined in May 2029. Tell us the session so the tutor practises from the right papers.

How much can a tutor help with the IB maths exploration?

A tutor can teach the mathematics the student's idea needs, help them narrow their own question and explain the criteria. A tutor cannot choose the topic, write or reword text, do the calculations or edit drafts; that breaks IB academic-integrity rules. Students should also tell their teacher about outside tutoring.

My child is moving from CBSE or the UP Board to the IB Diploma. Will maths be a problem?

Usually not, with a plan. These students handle routine methods well but need practice with unguided questions, written reasoning and, for AI, the graphic calculator. A few weeks of algebra, functions and trigonometry before or early in DP1, marked against IB markschemes, makes the first term far calmer.

Does online IB maths tuition work as well as home tuition?

It can, if the tutor sees the working. AA students should put the notebook under a second camera; AI students should share a calculator emulator or film the keypad. Many Ghaziabad families keep one weekend session at home and move the weekday one online when evening traffic makes travel unreliable.

How many IB maths sessions a week are normal?

One or two a week through DP1 is typical, rising to two or three before mocks and the May exams. HL students often add a second session earlier because of Paper 3. Students who start with us in DP2 usually need two a week from the beginning, moving quickly onto timed papers.

Is the first IB maths class free?

Yes. You choose one of two or three matched tutors for a free demo on whatever the student is studying that week. If the fit is wrong, the next matched tutor gets their own free demo, and switching tutor later, for example between DP1 and DP2, costs nothing either.
