What home tuition costs in Ghaziabad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

IGCSE maths tutor in Ghaziabad: the syllabus code, the tier, and two very different papers

Cambridge IGCSE students are a smaller group in Ghaziabad than CBSE or UP Board students, so a maths tutor who knows the 0580 papers inside out is not always round the corner. That makes the details of the request matter more: the syllabus code, whether your child is entered for Core or Extended, and which exam series they are aiming at. With those three facts we can look for a tutor who teaches exactly that, at home if the journey works and online if it does not. I teach IB, IGCSE and ISC maths on NXTutors; this page explains what the papers demand and how to judge a tutor for them. For the city's other maths options, see our maths home tutors in Ghaziabad page and the IGCSE tutors in Ghaziabad hub.

Three details to send before any tutor is suggested

  1. The syllabus code. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics is 0580; Additional Mathematics is 0606. Some schools follow Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE instead, which is a different specification with its own papers. The code is on the school's scheme of work or the entry form.
  2. Core or Extended. This decides which two papers your child sits and, more importantly, the highest grade they can be awarded.
  3. The series. Cambridge runs June and November series, and schools in India can also use a March series. The series sets how many months are left and which past papers matter most.

The hub page compares Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE if you are unsure which your school uses.

Two papers each, one of them with no calculator

Whichever tier your child takes, the grade comes from two papers of equal weight, written on the question paper itself with all necessary working shown. One paper forbids a calculator; the other needs a scientific one, and graphical or algebraic calculators are not permitted.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 for the 2025 to 2027 series
EntryCalculator-free paperCalculator paperGrades available
ExtendedPaper 2: two hours, 100 marksPaper 4: two hours, 100 marksA* down to E
CorePaper 1: ninety minutes, 80 marksPaper 3: ninety minutes, 80 marksC down to G

The right-hand column is the one to discuss with the school early. A Core candidate cannot be awarded higher than a C however well they do, so a student who hopes for an A, or who is heading for IB Analysis and Approaches, A Level maths or a science-heavy Class 11, needs an Extended entry. Sets are often fixed in Grade 9 and entries confirmed after Grade 10 mocks. If you think your child belongs in Extended, a tutor can cover the Extended-only content in the months before those mocks, so the school sees the evidence in time.

What the 2025 refresh changed

Nine topic areas make up the syllabus, with algebra and graphs, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, coordinate geometry and transformations with vectors sitting beside number, probability and statistics. Schools choose their own teaching order, and Cambridge designs the course around some 130 guided learning hours. The 2025 exams brought changes at both tiers:

  • Core now includes inequalities and knowing some squares, cubes and roots by heart; vector addition and subtraction, scalar multiples of vectors and data collection have gone.
  • Extended now includes surds, domain and range, exact trigonometric values, that same recall of squares, cubes and roots, and a wider range of graphs; linear programming, proper subsets, the congruence criteria, box-and-whisker plots and data collection have gone.

Older guidebooks and past papers still help, but a tutor has to skip what has gone and find fresh practice for what has arrived. Ask any tutor you meet what changed in 2025; the answer is a quick test of how current they are.

The calculator-free paper deserves its own routine

Half of every candidate's result is earned without a calculator, and students who have leaned on one for years feel it. The repair is short, regular practice rather than a revision sprint. In my own sessions the first few minutes go on exactly this, with the calculator put away:

  • Fractions, mixed numbers and recurring decimals, including dividing by a fraction.
  • Estimating by rounding each value to one significant figure, which turns up early in the paper.
  • On Extended, surds and indices simplified exactly, and exact sine, cosine and tangent values of the standard angles.
  • Long multiplication and division done briskly, so time is left for the multi-step questions at the end.

A term of this changes the non-calculator paper more than any last-month cram.

Rounding rules and command words

Where a question gives no instruction, Cambridge expects an answer that is not exact to be given to three significant figures, an angle in degrees to one decimal place, and π used from the calculator or as 3.142. Rounding halfway through a calculation is a common way to land outside the accepted range. "Exact" means leaving a surd or π in the answer. If the question asks for working, a correct number on its own will not earn full marks.

The verbs matter too. "Show that" gives the answer and pays only for a clear method; "write down" signals a quick mark; "work out" and "calculate" expect the method on the page so it can still earn credit after a slip; "sketch" wants the key features labelled, while "plot" wants accurate points. In Cambridge mark schemes, M marks reward method, A marks accuracy, and B marks stand on their own; after every series, examiner reports describe the mistakes that cost candidates most. Marking your child's papers on those lines, with the reports to hand, is worth far more than a column of ticks and crosses.

Additional Mathematics 0606

Some Cambridge schools enter their strongest students for 0606 alongside 0580. It goes further into functions, logarithms and the beginnings of calculus, assessed through two papers, both two hours long and out of 80; Paper 1 is calculator-free and Paper 2 allows one, and grades run from A* to E. It prepares a student well for IB AA at HL or A Level maths, provided Extended content is already secure. Where a student takes both, one tutor for both keeps the two courses pulling in the same direction.

Arriving in a Cambridge class from CBSE, ICSE or the UP Board

Students who change into IGCSE in Grade 9 usually know plenty of algebra and geometry but meet it in an unfamiliar form. CBSE and UP Board students tend to need practice with the IGCSE habit of short, multi-part questions and with the non-calculator paper; ICSE students are used to careful setting-out but may not have met some of the statistics and transformations topics in the same way. In every case a tutor should compare the old syllabus with 0580 topic by topic and close the gaps first. Our article on switching from CBSE to IB or IGCSE sets out a bridging plan, and students who will move on to the Diploma should also see the IB maths tutor in Ghaziabad page.

Who can reach you, and how

For a weekly IGCSE slot, a tutor on your own metro line or a short scooter ride away is worth more than a slightly stronger one stuck in evening traffic. From our zone research:

  • Indirapuram. Indirapuram has two Blue Line stations, Vaishali and Noida Electronic City, and Kala Pathar Road and Kaveri Marg are slowest at office hours. Abhay Khand 2 is one of the pockets nearest Vaishali station, with Kaushambi as a second option, so some tutors simply walk in; Nyay Khand 1 is mostly high-rise group housing, where a resident may need to confirm the visit at the gate.
  • Vaishali and Kaushambi. Vaishali Sector 1 sits on the Delhi border with both Blue Line stations of the branch within easy reach, which widens the pool to tutors from East Delhi and Noida.
  • Vasundhara. Sector 10 lies between Vaishali and Mohan Nagar stations, neither within walking distance, so tutors come by e-rickshaw or scooter; Sector 12 is closest to Shyam Park on the Red Line, and the roads towards Sahibabad fill at office hours.

The Ghaziabad home tutors page covers the other zones, from Sahibabad to Raj Nagar Extension and NH-9, and our Indirapuram tuition guide goes pocket by pocket.

Home or online for IGCSE maths

The non-calculator paper is easiest to coach in person, where the tutor sees every line of arithmetic as it is written. Past-paper review and topic practice work well online, provided the student's page is under a camera rather than photographed afterwards. Where the only 0606 specialist lives across the city, many families settle on one home session a week and one online. Our comparison of home and online tutoring sets out the trade-offs.

Watching an IGCSE maths demo

  • Does the tutor ask for the syllabus code, the tier and the series before starting?
  • Can they name what changed in the 2025 syllabus without looking it up?
  • Do they put the calculator away for part of the lesson?
  • When marking a question, do they separate method marks from accuracy marks?
  • Do they correct rounding to three significant figures and units as they go?
  • Do they give a clear plan for the weeks before the mocks, and a route to your door they can keep?

The demo class checklist adds questions that suit any subject.

Fees and starting

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor sets their own fee, and it is on the profile before you book. The pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Ghaziabad explain the factors.

Send the syllabus code, the tier, the series, your child's grade and a recent school test if you have one, plus your khand or sector and free times. You will hear back with two or three matched tutors; the first lesson is a free demo, and moving to a different tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check, and you can look through tutor profiles at any time. IGCSE Maths Tutor in Ghaziabad (Core & Extended): common questions

What does an IGCSE maths tutor cost in Ghaziabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. The fee depends on the tutor, the tier and the travel, and it is shown before the demo.

What is the difference between Core and Extended in IGCSE maths?

Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3, each ninety minutes and 80 marks, and can be awarded grades C to G. Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4, each two hours and 100 marks, and can reach A* to E. A student hoping for an A or A* needs the Extended entry.

Is half the IGCSE maths grade really earned without a calculator?

Yes. Paper 1 for Core and Paper 2 for Extended are taken without a calculator, and each is worth half the grade. Regular short practice with fractions, estimation, surds, indices and exact trigonometric values, started early in Grade 9, makes far more difference than revising those skills in the final month.

Does my child need a different tutor for Additional Mathematics 0606?

Not necessarily. 0606 goes further into functions, logarithms and early calculus, in two two-hour papers of 80 marks, one without a calculator. A tutor confident at that level can teach both courses, which helps them support each other. We match on both codes when you mention them.

Can you find an IGCSE maths tutor who comes to Indirapuram or Vaishali?

Often, because both areas have Blue Line stations, so tutors from Noida and East Delhi can reach them by metro. We look first at tutors who teach 0580 at your child's tier and can keep a weekly slot. If none can, a home session plus an online one is a practical mix.

My child is moving from CBSE to IGCSE in Grade 9. Where should a tutor start?

With a topic-by-topic comparison of what was covered against the 0580 syllabus, then the calculator-free number skills and the short multi-part question style that IGCSE uses. Most gaps close within a term. If the student may join the IB Diploma later, Extended entry keeps that route open.

How many IGCSE maths sessions a week are usual?

One a week is common in Grade 9, rising to two in Grade 10 before the mocks and two or three before the series. Students working towards an Extended entry, or taking 0606 as well, often need the second weekly session earlier in the course.
