Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Cambridge IGCSE maths looks simple from outside: two papers, one grade. Underneath, the entry tier fixes the highest grade a student can reach, half the result is earned without a calculator, and the syllabus changed for exams from 2025, so an older guidebook can teach topics that are no longer examined. In Faridabad, where IGCSE is studied by a smaller group than CBSE, ICSE or the Haryana board, the tutor who knows these details may come from a different part of the city or teach online. Written by Ajay Vatsyayan, whose subjects on NXTutors are IB, IGCSE and ISC maths, this page sets out what to confirm before tuition starts, how the papers work, the accuracy rules that cost marks, where Additional Mathematics fits, and how a tutor can reach your sector. It belongs with our Faridabad maths tutors page and the IGCSE tutors in Faridabad hub.
With those three answers, a tutor can choose the right past papers on day one instead of guessing.
Every 0580 candidate sits a pair of papers, each half of the result. One is taken without any calculator; for the other a scientific calculator is needed, while graphical and algebraic models are not allowed. Answers are written on the question paper, with the working shown.
| Tier | Without calculator | With calculator | Grades available |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | Paper 1, 1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks | Paper 3, 1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks | C to G |
| Extended | Paper 2, 2 hours, 100 marks | Paper 4, 2 hours, 100 marks | A* to E |
The last column is the one to take seriously. A Core candidate cannot score above C, however well the papers go. Anyone hoping for an A or A*, or planning on IB AA, A Levels or PCM after Grade 10, has to be entered for Extended. If you believe your child belongs there, speak to the school in Grade 9 and use the months before the mock exams to cover the Extended-only content with the tutor.
Cambridge groups 0580 content under nine headings (number, algebra and graphs, coordinate geometry, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, transformations and vectors, probability, statistics). It does not fix an order of teaching, so two schools can be on quite different chapters in the same month, and it sizes the course at around 130 guided learning hours.
| Tier | Added | Removed |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Inequalities; knowing some squares, cubes and roots from memory | Vector sums and differences, scalar multiples of vectors, collecting data |
| Extended | Surds; domain and range; exact values in trigonometry; the memorised squares, cubes and roots; further graph shapes | Linear programming; proper subsets; tests for congruence; box-and-whisker diagrams; collecting data |
Older past papers still give good practice, but a tutor should skip questions on removed content and find fresh material for the additions, especially surds and exact trigonometric values on Extended.
Half of every candidate's result comes from the paper without a calculator, and it is where students who have pressed buttons for years lose the most. A sound habit is to open each IGCSE session with five or ten minutes of mental and written arithmetic, calculator out of reach. The drills that matter:
Done every week for a term, this short routine moves the non-calculator paper more than any cramming in the final month.
A typical estimation item shows why. Asked to estimate 19.7 × 0.51 ÷ 4.03, the student should write 20 × 0.5 ÷ 4 and then 2.5, showing the rounded values, because the method mark sits on that line. Students who skip straight to "about 2.5", or who work the exact value by long multiplication, either lose the mark or lose four minutes they will want later. Small habits like writing the rounded line are exactly what a weekly tutor can drill until they are automatic, and they add up across a paper with many short questions.
The default accuracy, when a question is silent, is three significant figures for answers that are not exact and one decimal place for angles in degrees; π comes from the calculator key or as 3.142, and intermediate values stay unrounded. An "exact" answer stays as a surd or in terms of π. Command words are instructions in their own right: "show that" gives the answer away and rewards only the structured method, "write down" signals a quick mark, and "work out" expects the working to be visible so method marks survive a slip.
Cambridge markschemes give M marks for method, A marks for accuracy that depend on the method, and B marks that stand alone, and after every series the principal examiners publish reports on where candidates slipped. Ask for homework to be marked that way, with those reports in mind; it shows exactly where the marks leaked, which a plain tick or cross never does.
A few Cambridge schools offer their strongest maths students 0606 in addition to 0580. The extra course pushes on into functions, logarithms and introductory calculus. Its assessment is a pair of two-hour, 80-mark papers (Paper 1 with no calculator, Paper 2 with one), and the grades run from A* down to E. Students bound for IB AA HL or A Level maths gain a head start from it, provided the Extended work is already solid. If your child takes both, one tutor for both courses keeps the topics in step.
Students who join a Cambridge programme in Grade 9 from CBSE, the Haryana board or ICSE usually know the arithmetic and much of the algebra, but meet three new things at once: questions in the English of Cambridge command words, marks lost for rounding too early, and topics such as transformations, vectors or set notation taught in a different order. A first term with a tutor who maps the old syllabus onto the new one avoids a weak first set of school tests. After Grade 10, families choosing between the IB and an Indian board for Class 11 can read our IB maths tutors in Faridabad page and the guide to switching boards.
IGCSE is a smaller group in Faridabad, so the matched tutor may live further off and the route matters as much as the CV. Notes from our zone guides:
NIT and Old Faridabad and Ballabhgarh and the southern sectors are covered on the Faridabad page, and the NIT and central Faridabad guide has timing tips for Mathura Road.
Hand arithmetic is the part of IGCSE maths that benefits most from a tutor sitting beside the student and catching a wrong carry the moment it happens. Online works when the student writes on paper under a camera and photographs each finished page, rather than typing. Many Faridabad families settle on a mix: a home session for written practice and a shorter online session for past-paper review, which also covers weeks when the canal crossings or Mathura Road are slow. Read more in our home or online tutoring article.
| Period | Main work | Sessions |
|---|---|---|
| Grade 9 | Number and algebra secured; non-calculator habits; tier conversation with school | One or two a week |
| Grade 10, first term | Remaining topics; topic tests marked M, A and B | Two a week |
| Before mocks | Paired past papers under time | Two or three a week |
| Final weeks | Error log, examiner-report themes, one full pair of papers each week | As needed |
You receive two or three matched tutors and see each one's fee before the demo; the first class costs nothing, and changing tutor later is free. Before any tutor profile is marked Verified, the tutor completes an ID check with our team.

Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3, each 80 marks and an hour and a half, and can earn grades C to G. Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4, each 100 marks and two hours, with grades A* to E. A student aiming above C needs the Extended entry.
Yes. In Cambridge 0580, Paper 1 (Core) and Paper 2 (Extended) are sat without a calculator and count for half the grade. The other paper allows a scientific calculator, but not graphical or algebraic models. Regular hand arithmetic practice through Grade 9 and 10 is the reliable fix.
Yes, for exams from 2025. Extended added surds, domain and range, exact trigonometric values and more graph types, and dropped topics such as linear programming and box-and-whisker plots. Core added inequalities and dropped some vector work. Older books need a tutor who knows what to skip.
Only if they are already secure at Extended level. 0606 adds further functions, logarithms and early calculus in two papers of two hours and 80 marks each, one without a calculator. It helps students heading to IB AA HL or A Level maths, ideally with one tutor for both courses.
Yes. Online works well when the student writes on paper under a camera and sends photos of each finished page for marking. Many families combine one home session for non-calculator practice with an online session for past-paper review, which also helps on evenings when traffic is heavy.
