Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Preparing for NEET from a Mumbai flat means balancing two very different kinds of study. Biology, half the paper, is won by reading the NCERT text closely and being tested on it often. Physics is won slowly, one concept and one set of numericals at a time, with someone watching the working. Add a junior college timetable, a coaching batch and a commute by train, and the format of tuition matters as much as the tutor. This page sets out how Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai families usually arrange NEET tuition: which subject suits which format, how tutors reach each zone, what HSC students need to add, and how to run a realistic mock at home. For the exam and the NCERT-first method in depth, read our national NEET home tutor page.
The National Testing Agency's 2026 bulletin described NEET (UG) as one written sitting on paper, from 2 pm to 5 pm, with 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions: 90 in biology, split between botany and zoology, and 45 each in physics and chemistry. The total was 720, with four marks for each correct answer and one taken away for each wrong one, and biology was the first subject used to separate tied candidates. The National Medical Commission notifies the syllabus. Confirm every detail in the current bulletin on neet.nta.nic.in.
Some Maharashtra families also look at the state's own MHT CET, conducted by the State CET Cell. Check its official notice for which courses it covers and when it is held; we do not describe it here.
The easiest mistake is booking "a NEET tutor, twice a week, at home" and expecting it to cover everything. The three subjects reward different kinds of session, and in Mumbai, where a tutor's journey can cost an hour at the wrong time, getting this right also decides which tutors you can realistically book.
| Subject | Format | Why it suits Mumbai |
|---|---|---|
| Biology recall | Online, 30 minutes, three times a week: lines, diagrams and tables from the NCERT text | No travel at all; it fits after a coaching batch or before the evening trains get crowded |
| Physics concepts and numericals | At home, 90 minutes, once or twice a week | Worth the journey; book it for a late afternoon or a weekend morning, away from the office rush |
| Physical chemistry | At home, alongside or after physics | Written numericals benefit from a tutor at the table |
| Organic and inorganic chemistry | Online quizzes and mechanism checks | Short, frequent recall works on screen |
The physics side is described in detail on our NEET physics tutor page, and chemistry on the NEET chemistry tutor page.
For physics in particular, the pool of strong tutors is small enough that the railway line matters more than the kilometres. These are the patterns we see; every locality has its own page on the Mumbai tuition page.
| Zone | Example locality | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Worli, Dadar and Central Mumbai | Matunga | A station on each of the three lines; older buildings usually mean the tutor walks straight up |
| Bandra, Khar and Santacruz | Santacruz West | Both the Western and Harbour lines stop here; say which side of the tracks you live on, and start a little early on shopping evenings |
| Goregaon and Malad | Goregaon West | Line 2A along Link Road reaches most societies west of the tracks; begin evening sessions just after the rush |
| Chembur, Ghatkopar and Powai | Chembur | On the Harbour line; bungalows and older buildings mean doorstep entry, newer complexes a gate register |
| Thane | Kasarvadavali | Far up Ghodbunder Road with no station; choose a tutor from your own pocket and keep biology checks online |
| Navi Mumbai | Kharghar | The Navi Mumbai metro serves sectors away from the station; give node, sector and building number |
The South and Central Mumbai guide and the Thane and Navi Mumbai guide add more on travel and timing.
Many Mumbai students do Classes 11 and 12 in a junior college under the Maharashtra State Board, learning biology, physics and chemistry from the board's own textbooks. NEET questions, however, follow the NMC syllabus and lean heavily on NCERT wording, diagrams and examples. The two overlap a great deal, but the overlap is not exact, and the gap shows most in biology, where one unfamiliar phrase can turn a known fact into a wrong answer.
For school-side support, see our biology, physics and chemistry home tutor pages for Mumbai.
Our NEET biology, NCERT first guide sets out what the recall checks should cover, and the guide to important NEET chemistry chapters helps plan the chemistry side.
The paper is on paper and in the afternoon, and many students only practise on screens. Set aside a weekend afternoon, from 2 pm to 5 pm, with the phone out of the room, a printed paper and a separate answer grid. Score it as NEET does, four for a right answer and minus one for a wrong one, and note blanks and time per subject. Then hold the review online the next day, which spares the tutor a weekend trip and spends the session on the mistakes rather than on supervision. In the monsoon, that online review is also the session least likely to be lost to rain.
| Situation | Set-up that usually works |
|---|---|
| Coaching on four evenings, physics marks low | One home physics session on the free weekday afternoon, one online doubt session after a batch |
| Biology marks slipping on small details | Short online recall checks straight from the NCERT text; no extra travel |
| HSC student new to NCERT wording | A first session comparing state textbook and NCERT chapters, then NCERT reading built into each week |
| Living far up Ghodbunder Road or in an outer node | A specialist on a hybrid plan rather than the nearest generalist |
| Not in coaching, studying from home | Separate subject tutors, a written plan from the NMC syllabus, and a weekend mock every fortnight |
In each case, tell us the pattern of lost marks if you know it. Knowing whether the problem is recall, concepts or speed changes which tutor we put first on your shortlist.
Share the wing, flat and nearest station before a home demo, and give the name to the watchman or visitor app. The demo class checklist for parents has more. If the fit is wrong, we set up the next tutor; switching later costs nothing.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, shown before the demo. Because biology checks work well online, a mixed plan often costs less over a month than all-home sessions. See the Mumbai fees guide and the pricing guide.
Tell us the class and board, which subjects need help, the coaching days, your locality and nearest station, and the times that suit. We send two or three matched tutors and you book a free demo class. Tutors who join go through an ID check. You can also browse tutor profiles, see the JEE home tutor in Mumbai page for engineering, or, if you teach, look at Mumbai tuition jobs.

NEET biology recall works very well online in Mumbai: 30-minute sessions, three times a week, testing NCERT lines, diagrams and tables. No one travels, so it fits after coaching. Keep home visits for physics, where a tutor watching the working matters, on late afternoons or weekend mornings.
For Mumbai aspirants, as across India, NEET UG 2026 was one pen-and-paper sitting of 180 compulsory questions: 90 in biology and 45 each in physics and chemistry. The total was 720, with four marks for a right answer and one deducted for a wrong one. Confirm details in the current NTA bulletin.
The HSC syllabus alone is not quite enough for NEET for a Mumbai junior college student, because NEET follows NCERT wording and diagrams closely. The two overlap heavily, but the gap shows most in biology. A tutor should mark, chapter by chapter, where NCERT adds detail while keeping HSC practicals on schedule.
Yes, a NEET tutor can work around coaching and junior college in Mumbai if you share the coaching days and college timings. Most families keep one or two home physics sessions on free afternoons or weekends and run biology checks online after a batch. A fixed weekly slot is easier for a travelling tutor to keep.
For NEET in Mumbai, home tuition and coaching do different jobs: coaching covers the syllabus in a batch, while a home tutor fixes your child's own pattern of lost marks. A student with low physics marks often adds one home physics session. A student not in coaching needs separate subject tutors and a written plan.
A Mumbai student should run a NEET mock at home on a weekend afternoon over three hours, on a printed paper with a separate answer grid and no phone. Score it four for right and minus one for wrong, noting blanks and time per subject. Review it online with the tutor the next day.
A NEET repeat-year student in Mumbai is often free in the daytime, so weekday home sessions avoid the evening crowds. Start from last year's answer sheet and mock record, sort lost marks by cause, then rebuild the weakest chapters with weekly mocks. Check eligibility in the current NTA bulletin first.
A NEET tutor can reach Kasarvadavali or Kharghar near Mumbai with planning. Kasarvadavali is far up Ghodbunder Road with no station, so choose a tutor from your own pocket and keep biology checks online. In Kharghar, the Navi Mumbai metro serves sectors away from the station, so give node, sector and building number.
