What home tuition costs in Ahmedabad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science home tutor in Ahmedabad for Classes 6 to 10: the right textbook, the right habits, a reliable after-school slot

Science in the school years is three subjects sharing one notebook. Physics brings numericals, chemistry brings equations, biology brings diagrams and exact vocabulary, and a child who is shaky in one strand can hide it until Class 10. In Ahmedabad there is a further question: is your child reading an NCERT book, an ICSE text or the Gujarat board's syllabus, and in which language? NXTutors matches two or three science tutors to that answer and to your neighbourhood. You see each tutor's fee before you meet, and the first lesson is a free demo.

Which science syllabus is on your child's desk?

Aaditya Kashyap writes the CBSE and ICSE science sections of this page. Three syllabuses are common across the city, and each asks something different of a tutor.

CBSE

NCERT books throughout. Classes 6 and 7 use the activity-led Curiosity series, and Class 9 this session moves to the new Exploration book. The Class 10 board paper combines biology, chemistry and physics in one sitting.

ICSE

CISCE examines Class 10 science as three separate papers, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each with internal assessment of its own. Schools choose their own textbooks within the syllabus, so the tutor has to work from your child's books and CISCE specimen papers.

Gujarat board (GSEB)

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board sets the syllabus and conducts the SSC exam at the end of Class 10. We keep to general advice: name the medium, Gujarati or English, and ask for a tutor who teaches from the board's prescribed textbook. Take the exam scheme and dates only from gseb.org.

What changes in science tuition from Class 6 to Class 10?

  • Classes 6 and 7. Lessons grow out of activities. A tutor's real job is language: turning what a child saw into one accurate sentence and a labelled sketch.
  • Class 8. The three strands separate. Numericals and word equations appear, and units stop being optional.
  • Class 9. The steepest climb. For CBSE, the yearly exam is 80 marks with 20 internal, spread over four units of the Exploration book: Matter, its nature and behaviour, 27; World of living 25; Motion, force, work and sound 23; Earth as a system 5. Notes from an older sibling follow the old book, so start from the new chapters.
  • Class 10. Everything points at the board paper, where half the marks go beyond simple recall.

Until the board year one tutor for all three strands is usually the sensible arrangement, because the same person can see when a physics numerical is failing on algebra. The national science home tutor page explains our approach elsewhere; see also the Class 8 and Class 9 science tutor pages.

CBSE Class 10 science: which units carry the 80 marks?

CBSE Class 10 science, 2026-27: board marks by unit and the kind of work each unit needs
UnitMarksWhat regular practice looks like
Chemical Substances: Nature and Behaviour25Balancing equations, reaction types, acids, bases and salts
World of Living25Labelled diagrams and process answers in the right order
Effects of Current13Circuit numericals with units on every line
Natural Phenomena12Ray diagrams with arrows and correct conventions
Our Environment5Short, precise answers with one example each

Seen by strand, biology carries 30 marks and chemistry and physics 25 each. The school adds 20 internal marks in four equal parts: periodic assessment, multiple assessment, a portfolio and subject enrichment through practical work. By skill, half the paper tests knowledge and understanding, 30% tests application, and 20% asks for analysis and evaluation. Chapter notes are in our CBSE Class 10 science notes.

What question formats appear in the Class 10 paper?

The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions in a three-hour paper. Twenty are one-mark items, multiple-choice and assertion–reason. Six short answers are worth 2 marks and seven are worth 3. Three case- or source-based questions carry 4 marks each, and three long answers carry 5. Each format rewards a different habit: one-mark items reward careful reading, two-markers a definition plus an example, three-markers three separate points, case questions reading the passage before reaching for theory, and five-markers a diagram or equation followed by four or five points.

Which Class 10 topics are marked only in school?

For 2026-27, three areas are assessed formatively by the school and do not appear in the board paper: the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator; evolution; and the periodic classification of elements. They still feed internal marks and come back in Class 11, so they are taught, just not revised in the final weeks. The curriculum lists 14 experiments, and board questions draw on them, which makes the practical file part of revision.

The main board exam is compulsory for every Class 10 student. An optional later exam allows eligible students to improve up to three subjects, and science can be one. Dates for 2027 are not out yet, so rely on cbse.gov.in and prepare for the main exam as the one that counts.

How can a tutor pace the Class 10 science year?

A board-year rhythm for CBSE Class 10 science tuition, using official sample papers
PeriodFocusPaper practice
April to JulyChapters in school order; habits for diagrams and equationsOne sample-paper section after each chapter, marked to the official scheme
August to OctoberWeaker strand given an extra slot each weekCase-based questions every fortnight
November to DecemberFull syllabus rotationComplete three-hour papers, one strand reviewed in depth each week
Pre-board monthsMistake notebook and weakest chaptersOlder board papers as extra practice, plus recent competency questions

CBSE posts sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic ahead of the exam; they remain the surest guide to the current design. The Class 10 board-year planner maps every subject month by month, and the Class 10 science tutor page covers matching for this year.

How do science tutors reach families in six Ahmedabad neighbourhoods?

Younger children usually study between school and dinner, so a short and predictable journey matters more than anything. Compare tutors near you on our Ahmedabad page.

Six Ahmedabad neighbourhoods for after-school science tuition: homes, transport and a timing tip
NeighbourhoodHomesGetting thereTiming tip
PaldiIndependent houses, some from the Art Deco period, beside apartment complexes and builder floorsPaldi station on the Red Line, between Gandhigram and Shreyas; tight lanes favour two-wheelersEarly evening, before traffic builds towards the bridges
VastrapurApartments around the lake, with bungalows in some lanesBlue Line at Gurukul Road, Doordarshan Kendra or Thaltej, then an autoWeekend mornings are calmest near SG Highway
South BopalAlmost entirely flats in modern gated complexesBRTS Route 17 from Nehru Nagar; no metroLate afternoon; some complexes issue a visitor pass
NaranpuraBudget blocks, mid-segment societies and large bungalowsVijay Nagar station on the Red LineStart before the evening crowd at Vijay Char Rasta
KhokhraApartments, independent houses and some villas on former mill landManinagar station, or Apparel Park and Amraiwadi on the Blue LineMid-evening, clear of the roads towards Maninagar
VastralMostly newly built apartment buildings, some villasThree Blue Line stations: Vastral Gam, Nirant Cross Road and VastralOutside office hours on the ring road

Where the nearest station is some way off, a tutor who already teaches in the same zone is usually the most dependable choice for a weekday class.

Where do science marks slip, and what should a tutor insist on?

Common ways science answers lose marks, whatever the board, and the habit that fixes each
Where marks goThe habit to build
Everyday words in place of scientific termsWrite "alveoli" and "oesophagus", never "air sacs" or "food pipe"
Equations without state symbolsAdd (s), (l), (aq) or (g) whenever the question asks for them
Ray diagrams with bare linesPut an arrow on every ray; draw virtual rays dotted
Heredity ratios with no workingShow the cross or Punnett square before the ratio
Long answers that rambleCount the marks, then give that many distinct points

At the free demo, ask for an ordinary lesson on the current chapter and watch whether the tutor asks for these habits unprompted. Our demo class checklist for parents lists more to look for. If the match is not right, we book a demo with another tutor from your shortlist, and switching later is free.

Is science better taught at home or online?

For Classes 6 to 8, home lessons have a clear edge: a tutor at the table can watch a diagram being drawn, correct a label as it goes on and keep a younger child focused. From Class 9 onwards, online sessions work well for revision, doubt-clearing and timed sample-paper sections, as long as your child can photograph written work for marking. Families on the city's newer edges, and ICSE families who cannot find a nearby specialist for one strand, often keep a home tutor for the weekly routine and add a single online class. The home tutor or online tutor article weighs both.

How much does a science home tutor in Ahmedabad cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors choose their own fees. Within Classes 6 to 10, Class 10 board preparation generally costs more than middle-school support, and the journey to your neighbourhood and the number of weekly lessons also count. You see each fee first.

How do you get going?

Let us know the class, the board and medium, the strand your child finds hardest, your neighbourhood and the afternoons that suit you. We send a shortlist of two or three science tutors with fees attached, and you choose one for a free demo class. If nobody suitable can come at that time, we suggest online or mixed lessons. NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and also teaches online throughout India.

Science Home Tutor in Ahmedabad: common questions

What is the fee for a science home tutor in Ahmedabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Board-year teaching in Class 10 usually costs more than Class 6 to 8 help.

Can you find a science tutor for a GSEB student in Gujarati medium?

Yes. Mention the medium when you ask, and we look for tutors who teach the Gujarat board syllabus in Gujarati from the prescribed textbook. We do not publish a GSEB paper pattern on this page; the board's notices at gseb.org are the source to follow for the SSC exam.

How is the CBSE Class 10 science paper divided by subject?

Of the 80 board marks, biology carries 30, while chemistry and physics carry 25 each. By unit, Chemical Substances and World of Living have 25 marks apiece, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school adds 20 internal marks in four equal parts.

Which Class 10 science topics stay out of the 2026-27 board paper?

Evolution, the periodic classification of elements, and the electric motor with electromagnetic induction and the generator are assessed only by the school. Students still learn them for internal marks and for Class 11, but board-revision time is better spent on the chapters the paper actually examines.

Does ICSE science need a different kind of tutor?

Often, yes. ICSE Class 10 science is three papers, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each with its own internal assessment, and schools pick their own textbooks. The tutor should teach from those books and CISCE specimen papers, not an NCERT plan. Such tutors are fewer, so ask early or consider online classes.

What are the Class 9 science units in the new CBSE book?

Class 9 now follows NCERT's Exploration book. Matter, its nature and behaviour carries 27 marks; World of living 25; Motion, force, work and sound 23; and Earth as a system 5, making 80, with 20 more from internal assessment. Build the plan from the new chapters rather than older notes.

Is there a metro option for a tutor coming to Vastral?

Yes. Vastral has three Blue Line stations, Vastral Gam, Nirant Cross Road and Vastral, all opened in March 2019, so a tutor can ride the metro and take a short auto ride. Apartment societies usually ask visitors to sign in, so give the gate the tutor's name beforehand.

Should a single tutor teach physics, chemistry and biology until Class 10?

For most CBSE students, yes. The board paper is one paper with sections for all three strands, and a single tutor can balance them and spot when weak maths is costing physics marks. Bring in a specialist only if one strand keeps dropping marks after a term of steady work.
