Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Ahmedabad's metro now links the old city, the eastern suburbs and much of the west bank, and since January 2026 it reaches Gandhinagar too. Yet Satellite, Prahlad Nagar, Bopal, Shela and Gota still have no station, the bridge approaches crawl at office time, and the specialist your child needs may simply not live within a sensible ride. Live one-to-one online lessons take the journey out of the decision. This guide from the NXTutors Academic Team covers when online is the better choice in Ahmedabad and when it is not, which format suits which student, how lessons are arranged through us, what the desk needs, how to tell whether it is working, and how to mix online with home visits from the same tutor.
How much online adds depends a good deal on where you live. In zones with a station, a tutor from elsewhere can still visit; in zones without one, the choice of home tutor shrinks to the neighbourhood.
| Zone | Home access | What online adds |
|---|---|---|
| Navrangpura, Paldi & Ellisbridge | Strong: the Blue and Red Lines meet here | Mainly specialists for IB, IGCSE or rare subjects |
| Satellite, Vastrapur & Bodakdev | Metro for Thaltej and Memnagar; road only further south | Weekday lessons without the highway rush |
| Prahlad Nagar, Bopal & Shela | No metro or suburban rail | Any specialist who lives beyond the corridor |
| Naranpura, Gota & Chandkheda | Red Line on the east side; no station in Gota or Ghatlodia | Specialists for Gota and Ghatlodia homes |
| Maninagar, Isanpur & Kankaria | Rail, BRTS and Kankaria East metro | Senior specialist subjects; festival and holiday weeks |
| Nikol, Naroda & Bapunagar | Blue Line for Vastral and Amraiwadi; road for Nikol and Naroda | Lessons timed away from industrial shift traffic |
| Shahibaug, Asarwa & Meghaninagar | Road only, apart from Asarva railway station | West-bank specialists without a bridge crossing |
| Student | Format that tends to work | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Primary child, any board | Home | Attention, handwriting and reading aloud need a person beside them |
| Middle-school child who works steadily | Mix: home at the weekend, online midweek | Keeps the routine without a second trip |
| GSEB SSC or CBSE Class 10 student | Mostly home for maths and science; online for language or writing practice | Written steps carry the marks |
| IB or IGCSE student | Online, with a home session if a local specialist exists | Specialists are spread thinly across the city |
| Class 11–12 student with coaching | Online on weekdays, home at the weekend | Saves travel time the student cannot spare |
| Student in Shela, Bopal or Gota with a specialist across the river | Online | No station, and a long ride rarely survives a full year |
In Classes 1 to 5, online is a supplement at most: short reading or conversation sessions with a parent nearby. In Classes 6 to 8, a focused child can manage forty-five minutes on screen, especially for English, languages or science explanations. For Classes 9 and 10, whether GSEB, CBSE or ICSE, online works for students who already write steady working, provided the tutor sees each line; see Class 10 home tutors in Ahmedabad. In Classes 11 and 12, online is often the main format, especially around coaching, and for GUJCET, JEE and NEET practice; see Class 12 home tutors in Ahmedabad and our GUJCET tutors in Ahmedabad page.
The demo request form includes a Mode field, so you can pick online, home or either from the outset.
Look in on a lesson for a few minutes every couple of weeks. Good signs: your child does more of the talking and writing than the tutor; the notebook is held up to the camera and checked rather than answers taken on trust; homework set last time is checked; and after a month the same errors appear less often in school tests. Warning signs: the camera stays off, the tutor lectures for most of the session, or your child cannot tell you what was covered. Mention it to the tutor first, and if a fortnight later nothing is different, ask us for another name from the shortlist.
Our Ahmedabad city page points to a pattern many families settle on: one weekly home lesson plus a short online session for doubts, with the same tutor for both. It works particularly well where the tutor lives within reach but not next door, for instance a tutor from Navrangpura teaching a student in Thaltej, who can ride the Blue Line on Saturdays and teach online on Wednesdays. The home lesson handles long problem sets and checking the notebook; the online one keeps the week moving. Our home tutor versus online tutor comparison lays out the trade-offs.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Online fees are set by each tutor in the same way. Some charge a little less because there is no journey, which is especially relevant for families on the city's edge; specialists often charge the same either way. You see each fee before the demo; see the pricing guide and home tuition fees in Ahmedabad.
Online widens the choice most in localities where travel is hardest. Thaltej, at the western end of the Blue Line, is easy for a weekend visit and online midweek. Prahlad Nagar has no metro, and its gated complexes often confirm visitors by phone. In Naranpura, Vijay Char Rasta crowds in the evening, so weekday sessions on screen avoid the rush. Khokhra, near Maninagar, suits online for senior specialist subjects, while Odhav, where industrial shift changes load the roads, and Shahibaug, where a west-bank specialist would face a river crossing, both gain from screen lessons.
Search with the word online, or send us the class, board, subjects and times; two or three tutors come back with fees. Request a free demo, see online tutors, or if you prefer someone at the door, start from home tutors in Ahmedabad, where every zone and locality is listed. Our West Ahmedabad and East Ahmedabad guides help you weigh the options.
When the right tutor cannot reach you regularly: in localities without a metro station such as Satellite, Bopal, Shela or Gota, for IB, IGCSE or advanced senior subjects where specialists are few, after late coaching days, or during festival weeks. For young children and students rebuilding maths basics, a home tutor is usually better.
Type your request with the word online, such as "online physics tutor GSEB Class 12", or set the switch to Online, then filter by subject, board, class, fee, experience, rating or gender. Or send us the class, board, subjects and times, and we return two or three tutors with their fees shown.
There is no single required platform. The tutor and your family agree the video app and how written work will be shared, for example a pen tablet, a shared whiteboard or a phone held above the notebook. Test the set-up in the first week, at the hour lessons will actually run.
Yes, and many Ahmedabad families prefer it: one weekly home lesson for long problem sets and notebook checks, plus a short online session for doubts. It suits cases where the tutor lives within reach but not next door, for example a short metro ride away, so one visit a week is easy.
It can be, for a student who already writes steady working, as long as the tutor sees every line through a pen tablet, shared board or camera over the notebook. A student who is struggling usually does better with a tutor at the table, perhaps adding an online session midweek.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, and online tutors set their own fees in the same way. Some charge a little less because there is no journey; specialists often charge the same either way. You see every fee before the free demo.
Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified, though it is not a police check. Keep the device in a shared room, let a parent hold the meeting link, make sure messages go to a parent's number, and agree openly on whether lessons are recorded.
