UP Board tutors in Noida: High School in Class 10, Intermediate in Class 12

Noida sits in Uttar Pradesh, so alongside its CBSE, ICSE and international schools there are schools recognised by the state's own board, the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, usually called UPMSP or simply the UP Board. Its two public examinations are the High School examination at the end of Class 10 and the Intermediate examination at the end of Class 12. The papers look different from CBSE papers even where the chapters match: three hours and fifteen minutes with a reading period, an OMR multiple-choice section, and a pass mark split between the written paper and the school's own marks. This page sets out what the board publishes, how a home tutor in Noida can use it, and what to ask before you choose one. Everything about papers and marks below comes from upmsp.edu.in; check the board's site again before your child's exam year, because schemes are revised.

What the UP Board is, and how a student moves through it

The board was set up in 1921 at Prayagraj by an act of the old United Provinces legislature and held its first examination in 1923. Its own history page notes that it used a 10+2 structure from the beginning: a public examination after ten years of schooling, called High School, and another after the +2 stage, called Intermediate. The head office is still at Prayagraj, and the work is shared with regional offices, the earliest of them set up at Meerut, Varanasi, Bareilly and Prayagraj. The board recognises schools, prescribes the courses and textbooks for both levels, conducts the two examinations and decides equivalence for other boards' certificates.

For a family, the practical sequence is worth knowing early. Students are registered with the board in advance in Class 9 and again in Class 11, and the examination application follows in Classes 10 and 12. The board also accepts private candidates for Classes 10 and 12. During the year, schools upload High School internal-assessment marks to the board's website, and for Intermediate students they upload marks for moral education, yoga, sports and physical education. Those marks are entered by the school, not by a tutor, but a tutor can make sure the projects and practical work behind them are done properly and on time.

How the High School maths and science papers are built

The board's syllabus files for session 2026-27 give each Class 10 subject a written paper of 70 marks and a further 30 marks earned in school. To pass, a student needs 23 in the written paper and 10 in the school component, 33 in all. A strong paper cannot rescue a missing project, and the reverse is also true.

Class 10 maths (928) and science (931) as the board's syllabus and model papers describe them
SubjectWritten paperMarks earned in schoolUnit weights in the paper
Mathematics70 marks, 3 h 15 min including 15 minutes to read. Section A: 20 one-mark multiple-choice questions on an OMR sheet. Section B: 50 marks in five questions, from very short to long answer30, internal assessment with project workAlgebra 18, trigonometry 12, geometry 10, mensuration 10, statistics and probability 10, number systems 5, coordinate geometry 5
Science70 marks, 3 h 15 min. Section A: one-mark multiple-choice questions on OMR. Section B: descriptive answers. Both sections are split into three sub-sections30, a practical examinationChemical substances 20, the living world 20, effects of current 13, natural phenomena 12, natural resources 5

Three details in these documents change how a tutor prepares a student. First, the OMR section is unforgiving: the model paper instructs candidates not to cut, erase or use whitener once a circle is filled, so practice on printed OMR sheets is worth an afternoon. Second, in science each sub-section of Section B has to be answered together and started on a fresh page, which a student should rehearse rather than discover in the hall. Third, the syllabus narrows some topics in ways a CBSE-trained tutor might not expect: heights and distances questions use only angles of 30, 45 and 60 degrees and involve no more than two right triangles. A tutor who knows those limits spends the time where the marks are. For the subjects themselves, see our maths home tutors in Noida and science home tutors in Noida pages.

Hindi, English and the other language papers

The board's Class 9 and 10 subject list includes Hindi and Elementary Hindi, English, Sanskrit and a long run of other languages, among them Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bangla, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Nepali. At Intermediate level it lists Hindi and General Hindi alongside English and the classical languages.

The model papers we read on the board's site for maths, science and physics are written in Hindi. If your child studies in English medium, ask the school how the paper is provided and which technical terms the student should use, then tell us when you request a tutor. Two practical points follow:

  • Terms in the paper's language. A tutor can explain a concept in English or Hindi, but written practice should use the vocabulary the student will meet on the question paper.
  • The language papers count. Hindi and English are full board subjects. If either lags, ask for a tutor who teaches that board paper, not general conversation; our English home tutors in Noida page covers the English side.

Intermediate in Classes 11 and 12: the four groups

The board publishes career guidance for four groups of Intermediate students: agriculture, arts, commerce and science. The agriculture group is the one families from other boards rarely expect; it has its own subjects in agronomy, agricultural botany, agricultural engineering and related areas. The subject list for Classes 11 and 12 falls into those groups as follows.

Subjects on the board's Class 11 and 12 list, grouped
GroupSubjects a tutor is most often asked forOther subjects on the list
SciencePhysics (151), Chemistry (152), Biology (153), Mathematics (131)Computer (144)
CommerceAccountancy (156), Business Studies (157), Economics (136)Mathematics, Computer
ArtsHistory (128), Geography (129), Civics (130), Economics, Sociology (142), PsychologyEducation, Home Science, Logic, Military Science, music, drawing and craft subjects
AgricultureAgronomy, agricultural botany, agricultural physics and climatology, agricultural mathematics and elementary statisticsAgricultural economics, chemistry and zoology, animal husbandry in Class 12

The board also lists vocational trade subjects for Classes 11 and 12. For help in a single subject, see our physics, chemistry, biology, accountancy and economics pages for Noida, and the guide to choosing a board and stream.

Intermediate papers: what the published schemes show

The Class 12 syllabus files and model papers for the science subjects show a pattern a tutor can plan around.

Selected Class 12 schemes from upmsp.edu.in, session 2026-27
SubjectPaperHow the marks fall
Physics (151)70 marks, 3 h 15 min including reading time, in five sections; a separate 30-mark practical; pass 23 + 10Two halves of 35. First: electrostatics 8, current electricity 7, magnetic effect and magnetism 8, induction and AC 8, electromagnetic waves 4. Second: optics 13, dual nature 6, atoms and nuclei 8, electronic devices 8
Chemistry (152)70 marks in seven questionsSix one-mark multiple-choice items, then groups of two-, three-, four- and five-mark questions; at least 8 marks must be numerical
Mathematics (131)100 marks, 3 h 15 min, nine compulsory questionsEach question states how many of its parts to attempt

Read in plain terms: in physics, optics alone is worth more than any single electricity unit, and a student who leaves electromagnetic waves for the last week is gambling only four marks, while one who leaves optics is gambling thirteen. In chemistry, the required numerical marks make solutions, electrochemistry and kinetics calculations worth regular practice. In maths there is no practical, so the whole 100 rides on one sitting and on the speed that comes from timed papers.

How UP Board study differs from CBSE in practice

Many Noida families compare a UP Board school with a CBSE one, or switch between them at Class 11. The board's own site links to NCERT's textbooks and to NCERT's notes on rationalised content, and its Class 10 maths units run through familiar ground: real numbers, polynomials, linear equations in two variables, quadratics, arithmetic progressions, triangles, circles, trigonometry, areas related to circles, statistics and probability. The topics are close; the examination is not.

  • Length and reading time. Papers run three hours and fifteen minutes, the first fifteen for reading. A student used to three hours should practise using that reading time to plan the order of attack.
  • The OMR section. A fixed block of one-mark multiple-choice questions answered on OMR. Speed and accuracy here are trained separately from long answers.
  • The 30-mark school component. Class 10 subjects carry 30 marks of internal assessment or practical work, with a separate minimum of 10. CBSE Class 10 maths and science use 80 + 20.
  • Language of the paper. The model papers are in Hindi; a student moving from an English-medium CBSE school should check terms early.
  • A second chance. The board runs a compartment examination and publishes scrutiny (re-check) results by region. Read its current notice; a tutor plans around the rules, not instead of them.

If your child is on another board, our CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and IGCSE pages for Noida cover those papers.

Free material on the board's own site

A good UP Board tutor works from the board's documents first and guidebooks second. The student section of upmsp.edu.in carries:

  • Subject syllabi for Classes 9 to 12, with unit weights, one file per subject code.
  • A monthly syllabus (shown as the academic calendar) for each subject and class, which says roughly what a school should have covered by when. A tutor can check a child's notebook against it every month.
  • Model papers for Classes 10 and 12 in most subjects, which show the section pattern and the instructions on the cover page.
  • A question bank, with Class 9 subjects listed at the time we read it.
  • Formative assessment material, the board's term for the ongoing work that feeds school marks.

Ask any tutor you meet whether they have read these files for your child's class. The answer tells you a lot.

A tutor's plan from Class 9 to Intermediate

How UP Board tuition usually changes stage by stage
StageWhat sessions concentrate onUsual rhythm
Class 9 (registration year)Algebra and geometry foundations, science diagrams and definitions in the paper's language, the first projects done properlyTwo a week
Class 10 (High School)Monthly syllabus kept up with; OMR practice; full 3 h 15 min model papers; practical and project work finished earlyTwo or three a week
Class 11 (registration year)New subjects in the chosen group; for science, mechanics and calculus groundwork that Class 12 assumesOne per subject, often two

How tutors reach each part of Noida

A weekly tutor has to make the same journey every week, so we match along metro lines and inner roads before anything else. Notes from our zone guides:

  • Old Noida: Sector 11 is mostly houses and builder floors on authority plots, so the tutor rings the bell with no gate routine; Noida Sector 15 on the Blue Line is the usual station. In Sector 31, say whether you live in the planned blocks or in the village lanes, which are easier on foot or two-wheeler.
  • Central Noida: Sector 53 mixes authority flats, houses and Gijhore village; Noida Sector 34 station is closest, and a map pin helps on the first visit.
  • Sector 62 belt: Sector 56 has authority Janta and LIG flats beside houses, with no station inside; tutors come by two-wheeler, auto or cab, so a slot clear of office traffic matters.
  • Sectors 70 to 82: Sector 71 has older Janta flats among floors and houses; Noida Sector 61 on the Blue Line is just across the boundary, and Vishwakarma Road is the thing to time around.
  • Noida Expressway: look for a tutor from the next sector who can stay on inner roads; the expressway itself crawls once offices close.
  • Near Noida Extension: Sector 117 has authority flats in its abadi pocket and newer societies; tutors already teaching in Sectors 116, 118 or 119 can come on local roads.

Our zone guides go further: Old and Central Noida, Sector 62 and the 70s and the expressway and Noida Extension. Every locality is on the Noida home tutors page.

Home tuition, online, or a mix?

For High School maths and science, a tutor at the table can watch a construction, a ray diagram or a balanced equation being written and stop the error before it sets. That suits Class 9 and 10 well. In Intermediate, when a student also travels for practicals or entrance coaching, one home session and one online session a week is often easier to keep. Online also covers heavy-rain evenings, when travel across Old Noida slows. Our comparison of home and online tutoring sets out the trade-offs.

Questions to ask at a UP Board demo

  1. Which UP Board classes and subjects have you taught? High School maths and Intermediate physics are different jobs.
  2. Have you read this year's syllabus and model paper? Ask the tutor to point to the unit weights for your child's subject.
  3. How do you handle the OMR section? Listen for timed practice on real OMR sheets.
  4. Which language will written practice be in? It should match the paper the student will sit.
  5. How will you support projects and practicals? Guided, checked and finished early; never written for the student.
  6. The route. Which station or road, and what happens on a jammed or rainy evening?

We send two or three matched tutors and show each fee before the demo; the first class is free and switching tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified. The demo class checklist has more questions.

UP Board Home Tutor in Noida (High School & Intermediate): common questions

How do I find a UP Board home tutor in Noida?

To find a UP Board home tutor in Noida, send the class, the Intermediate group if any, the language of the paper, your sector and your slots. We shortlist two or three tutors who teach High School or Intermediate, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

How much does a UP Board home tutor cost in Noida?

UP Board home tutors in Noida set their own fees, and you see each one before the free demo class. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. The class, the number of subjects and travel at your slot move the figure.

Is the UP Board or CBSE better for a Noida student?

Neither the UP Board nor CBSE is right for every Noida student; the choice depends on the school, the medium and the child's plans. The topics are close, but the examinations differ in length, format and school-assessed marks. For a fuller comparison, see our CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE guide.

How is the UP Board Class 10 maths paper set out for Noida students?

For Noida students, the UP Board's 2026-27 files describe a 70-mark Class 10 maths paper of three hours and fifteen minutes, the first fifteen for reading. Section A has 20 one-mark multiple-choice questions on an OMR sheet, and Section B carries 50 marks in five questions. A further 30 marks come from internal assessment and project work in school.

What marks does a Noida student need to pass a UP Board subject?

To pass a UP Board subject we checked, a Noida student needs 23 of 70 in the written paper and 10 of 30 in school marks. That is 33 in total for the Class 10 subjects and Class 12 physics. Both parts have their own minimum, so projects and practical work need as much care as revision.

Can a Noida tutor teach a UP Board student whose paper is in Hindi?

Yes, a Noida tutor can teach a UP Board student whose paper is in Hindi; tell us the language of the paper when you ask. The model papers on the board's site for maths, science and physics are in Hindi, so written practice should use the terms the student will meet. A tutor can explain in Hindi or English.

Which UP Board Intermediate groups and subjects can Noida tutors cover?

Noida tutors most often cover the UP Board's Intermediate science, commerce and arts groups, and the board also runs an agriculture group. Requests usually come for physics, chemistry, biology and maths; accountancy, business studies and economics; and history, geography, civics and sociology. We match one tutor per subject, or one across linked subjects such as physics and maths.

How is UP Board study different from CBSE for a Noida student?

For a Noida student, UP Board topics are close to CBSE and the board's site links to NCERT textbooks, but the examination differs. Papers run three hours and fifteen minutes with reading time and an OMR multiple-choice section, and Class 10 subjects carry 30 school-assessed marks rather than CBSE's 20. Practise with the board's own model papers.

What free material does the UP Board publish that a Noida tutor should use?

The UP Board publishes free material on upmsp.edu.in that a Noida tutor should use, starting with subject syllabi for Classes 9 to 12 and a monthly syllabus for each subject. It also posts model papers for Classes 10 and 12, a question bank and formative assessment material. A tutor who uses these files prepares a student for the paper the board actually sets.

Should UP Board tuition in Noida be at home, online or a mix?

For UP Board High School maths and science in Noida, home tuition suits Classes 9 and 10 well. A tutor at the table can stop an error in a construction or equation as it is written. In Intermediate, when a student also travels for practicals or coaching, one home and one online session a week is easier to keep. Online also covers heavy-rain evenings.

How are UP Board Class 12 physics marks split for Noida students?

For Noida students, UP Board Class 12 physics is a 70-mark paper of three hours fifteen minutes plus a 30-mark practical, with a pass mark of 23 plus 10. The paper splits into two halves of 35, and optics alone carries 13 marks. Leaving optics to the last week gambles far more than leaving electromagnetic waves, worth 4.
