Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

IB Diploma Physics changed shape with the guide first assessed in 2025. The content is now arranged in five themes, one exam paper is built around unfamiliar data, and the internal investigation is a fifth of the grade. A tutor who last taught the older course, or who teaches only CBSE numericals, will miss part of what the examiners now reward. This page explains the course as the IB publishes it, what good tutoring looks like at each stage of the two years, and how a physics specialist can realistically reach a home in Noida, from the old plotted sectors to the expressway towers. It sits under our physics home tutors in Noida page and the IB tutors in Noida hub.
The IB plans 150 teaching hours at SL and 240 at HL. The extra HL hours go partly into five topics that only HL students study and partly into greater depth on shared topics.
| Theme | In brief | HL-only extension |
|---|---|---|
| A: space, time and motion | Describing motion, then forces, momentum, energy and power | Rotation of rigid bodies, plus relativity (Galilean and special) |
| B: particulate nature of matter | Heat transfer, the greenhouse effect, ideal gases, and electric current in circuits | Thermodynamics |
| C: wave behaviour | Oscillations, how waves travel and interact, resonance and the Doppler effect | Nothing separate; shared topics go deeper |
| D: fields | Gravity, electric and magnetic fields, and charges moving through them | Electromagnetic induction |
| E: nuclear and quantum physics | The atom, radioactivity, fission, and fusion in stars | Quantum physics |
Schools sequence the themes differently, so a tutor should follow your child's school order rather than the guide's letters. The collaborative sciences project, which every DP science student joins, is run by the school and needs no tutoring.
| Part of the grade | Standard Level | Higher Level | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper 1: section A is multiple choice, section B (Paper 1B) is 20 marks of data questions; one sitting | 25 multiple-choice items, 90 minutes for the whole paper | 40 multiple-choice items, two hours for the whole paper | 36% |
| Paper 2: short-answer and extended-response questions | 55 marks in 90 minutes | 90 marks in two and a half hours | 44% |
| Internal assessment: the scientific investigation | 24 marks at either level | 20% | |
Students may use a calculator and the data booklet in both papers. A wrong multiple-choice answer costs nothing, so a student should never leave a Paper 1A item blank. The booklet is a tool to learn, not a crutch: a tutor should make sure the student knows where each equation sits and what each symbol means before the exam.
HL is the usual choice for students heading for engineering or the physical sciences; check the entry requirements of the courses your child is considering. It adds rigid body mechanics, relativity, thermodynamics, induction and quantum physics, and its Paper 2 is longer and heavier. SL suits a student who wants physics in a broad programme without making it a centrepiece. The decision should rest on the student's maths: HL physics leans on algebra, graphs and some calculus ideas, so a student struggling in IB maths should discuss the level with the school early. A tutor can help by setting HL-style problems in the first weeks and reporting honestly how the student copes.
Paper 1B gives students data from experiments they may never have done and asks them to analyse it: plot or read a graph, linearise a relationship, estimate an uncertainty, judge whether the data support a claim. The skills come from the practical side of the course, so the most useful preparation is regular, short exposure rather than a cram.
Paper 2 carries the largest share of the grade. Students lose marks less from not knowing physics than from answering a different question from the one asked. A tutor should train three things. First, command terms: "explain" needs a cause and a mechanism; "determine" needs a number with working; "outline" needs a brief account. Second, structure: for an extended answer, state the principle, apply it to the situation, then conclude. Third, units and significant figures on every numerical answer. Marking against IB markschemes, rather than by feel, shows a student exactly where the marks are.
The investigation takes about ten hours of class time and is written up in at most 3,000 words. It is marked on four criteria of six marks each, 24 in all. Groups of as many as three are allowed, yet every member must pose a personal research question and none may share raw data. Data may be gathered in the lab or the field, or drawn from spreadsheets, databases or simulations, so a student has real freedom in choosing.
Explain the four criteria using the IB's published material, teach the physics and the analysis techniques the idea needs, discuss whether a question is feasible in ten hours, and point out in general terms where a draft is unclear.
Choose the research question, design the method, collect or process the data, write or rewrite any part of the report, or line-edit drafts. Any of these would breach the IB's rules on academic integrity, so make sure your child's teacher knows about the tutoring.
Our IB physics SL, HL and IA guide adds more on choosing a workable question.
CBSE is the most common board in Noida, so many DP physics students arrive from it. Each route brings strengths and a gap.
| Before DP1 | Usually strong | Usually new |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE Class 10 | Standard numericals and derivations | Data-based questions, longer written explanations, designing an investigation |
| UP Board High School | Textbook concepts and diagrams | Physics vocabulary in English, uncertainties, open-ended questions |
| ICSE Class 10 | Careful, complete working | Uncertainty analysis and the IB's open question style |
| IGCSE Physics | Mechanics, waves and electricity content | Heavier algebra, fields as a unifying idea, routine uncertainties |
| IB MYP | Inquiry and criteria-based work | Speed with exam-style calculation |
Students coming from Cambridge may find the IGCSE physics tutor in Noida page useful for what they already know.
| Stage | Focus | Sessions a week |
|---|---|---|
| Opening weeks of DP1 | Kinematics and graphs, vectors, the uncertainty toolkit | One or two |
| Rest of DP1 | Themes in school order; one Paper 1B-style question each week | One at SL, two at HL |
| Investigation window | Criteria and analysis skills; the report left to the student | Two or three sessions in total |
| DP2 | Fields, nuclear and quantum physics; then timed papers marked against markschemes | Two, more before mocks |

Physics tutoring relies on diagrams and graphs, which are easiest on paper at a shared table. Online works well with a digital whiteboard and a camera on the student's notebook, and it widens the choice of HL specialists to tutors across the city. For the expressway and the sectors near Noida Extension, our zone notes suggest a hybrid plan for specialist subjects: one home session a week, the rest online. Our guide to home and online tutoring compares the options.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo; the pricing guide and home tuition fees in Noida explain more.
Tell us the level, DP year, what is going wrong, your sector and society, and the slots that work. You get two or three matched tutors to choose from; the first lesson is a free demo and a later change of tutor costs nothing. Each tutor who joins clears an ID check before the profile is marked Verified, and you can look through tutor profiles yourself. For related subjects, see IB maths and IB and IGCSE chemistry tutors in Noida.

Under the guide first assessed in 2025, IB DP Physics for Noida students is Paper 1 (36%), Paper 2 (44%) and the internal scientific investigation (20%). Paper 1 combines multiple-choice items (Paper 1A) with data-based questions (Paper 1B), and a wrong multiple-choice answer costs nothing. Calculators and the data booklet are allowed in both papers.
A Noida student should prepare for IB physics Paper 1B with short weekly data practice rather than cramming. The paper asks students to analyse data from experiments they may not have done: reading graphs, linearising relationships, handling uncertainties and judging conclusions. A tutor should set one data question a week, with error bars and gradient ranges written in full.
A Noida tutor can help with the IB physics investigation only within limits: explaining the four criteria, teaching the physics and analysis, and discussing feasibility. A tutor must not choose the research question, design the method, handle the data or write any part of the report. The student should tell their teacher about outside tutoring.
A Noida student heading for engineering or the physical sciences usually suits IB Physics HL, which adds rigid body mechanics, relativity, thermodynamics, induction and quantum physics. HL also leans on maths and has a longer Paper 2. Discuss the level with the school early, and ask a tutor to test HL-style problems in the first weeks.
IB physics is a style jump more than a content jump for a Noida student after CBSE Class 10. CBSE students are usually strong on numericals and derivations but less used to data-based questions, uncertainties and longer written explanations. A few weeks on graphs, uncertainty and command terms at the start of DP1 makes the transition smoother.
An IB physics specialist can sometimes reach homes near Noida Extension, most reliably one who already teaches nearby, because public transport is limited in sectors such as 115. Most tutors arrive by two-wheeler or cab. Where a specialist cannot come every week, one home session plus online sessions keeps the right tutor without long evening drives.

A Noida tutor improves IB physics Paper 2 answers by training command terms, answer structure, and units and significant figures. "Explain" needs a cause and a mechanism, "determine" a number with working, and "outline" a brief account. Marking against IB markschemes, rather than by feel, shows a student exactly where the marks are in this paper worth 44%.
