Home tutors in DLF Phase 1: the short answer

DLF Phase 1 sits at the northern end of our Golf Course Road zone in Gurugram. It is a plotted phase of lettered blocks, cut through by Arjun Marg, with its own Rapid Metro stop and Sikanderpur's Yellow Line station close by. This guide is about what that layout means for a tutor's visit.

DLF Phase 1 at a glance for home tuition

Lettered blocks, builder floors and one apartment cluster

DLF Phase 1 is a plotted phase. Its land is divided into blocks named by letter, and the letter is part of every address: DLF Mega Mall is listed at A-48 in the A Block, Qutub Plaza at H 22 in Block H, and Shiv Nadar School in E-Block. When you share your address with a tutor, the block letter matters as much as the house number.

Listing sites describe the housing as mostly bungalows, row houses and villas, with larger apartments in a few places and some gated projects. Many plots have been rebuilt over the years as builder floors, with a separate family on each floor and a shared gate and staircase. On OpenStreetMap the phase is mapped as residential land in Sector 26, with Arjun Marg and the metro station in Sector 26A.

There is also an apartment cluster: DLF Silver Oaks in Sector 26, mapped as its own residential area. Families there have a society gate and tower numbers to plan for; families elsewhere in the phase mostly do not.

What the housing means for a lesson

In a builder floor, a child usually studies in a bedroom or at the dining table, and the household moves around them. If the family room is busy at the slot you choose, a quiet bedroom with a desk works better for the tutor. In a full house, there is often a spare room that can serve as the lesson room each week.

In a floor, the tutor may share a staircase with other families. Tell the tutor which floor you are on, and whether there is a lift, so they do not ring the wrong bell on the first visit.

What DLF Phase 1 families plan around

Few resident reviews of this phase are public. What there is, on listing sites and in news reports, points to a short set of planning points.

• A calm interior, busy edges. One locality page describes the phase as calm and safe, with gated projects, yet names traffic on Golf Course Road as a concern and credits new underpasses with easing it. For tuition this means the lanes inside the phase are rarely the problem; the roads a tutor uses to get there are.
• Low-lying homes in heavy rain. A July 2021 news report says water entered low-lying homes in DLF Phases 1 and 3 after heavy rain, and a May 2025 report lists DLF Phases 1 to 5 among the areas affected by a pre-monsoon storm. Agree in advance that a waterlogged evening becomes an online lesson at the same time.
• The Sikanderpur side at office hours. The north of the phase sits next to Sikanderpur and the Cyber City approach. A tutor coming that way after office closing time will be slower than at mid-afternoon.
• Parking in the lanes. Builder floors bring more cars to the same plots, so a visitor's parking spot is worth agreeing before the demo.

How a tutor reaches DLF Phase 1

By metro. DLF Phase 1 has its own Rapid Metro station, on Raghavendra Marg in Sector 26A. It is the first stop south of Sikanderpur on the Golf Course Road branch, which opened in 2017; the next stop south is Sector 42-43. Sikanderpur is also on the Delhi Metro Yellow Line, between Guru Dronacharya and MG Road, and a walkway connects the two networks. So a tutor on the Yellow Line can change at Sikanderpur, ride one stop to DLF Phase 1, and walk into the phase.

By road. Arjun Marg runs through the phase, and DLF's corridor plan shows an Arjun Marg underpass and a Sikanderpur underpass on Golf Course Road, beside the Sikanderpur flyover. Ashoka Crescent Marg and Sunset Boulevard are the other named roads, and a locality page notes that Arjun Marg and Sunset Boulevard link through to Gurgaon–Faridabad Road. Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road runs along the north side.

Where tutors tend to start. The short trips come from the next-door phases, from Sushant Lok Phase 1 and Sector 28, from the Yellow Line, and from the MG Road side. Tutors coming from further south along Golf Course Road can ride the Rapid Metro up from Sector 42-43 or beyond.

Plan around metro hours: a property-portal guide gives the Rapid Metro as running roughly from 6 am to 10 pm, so a tutor who teaches late evenings is better on a two-wheeler.

Doorbells, staircases and safety in the phase

Most homes in DLF Phase 1 have no society gate, so the arrival is simple once the tutor has the address. Send three things before the demo: the block letter and house number, the floor if you live in a builder floor, and a map pin. Add where a car or two-wheeler can stand for an hour.

If your house has a guard or a domestic helper at the gate, tell them the tutor's name and expected time. In DLF Silver Oaks, register the tutor as a visitor at the society gate, with the tower and flat number.

Boards DLF Phase 1 families ask about

Shiv Nadar School, on our approved Gurugram school list, is in E-Block of the phase and shows CBSE, IB (MYP and DP) and Cambridge IGCSE on its own site. Families here therefore ask about all three, and children at other schools bring ICSE and ISC as well. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school.

What tutors focus on, class by class

Classes 1 to 5. Reading fluency, number sense and handwriting. Sessions of 45 minutes to an hour, two or three times a week, often in the late afternoon. A tutor from within the phase or a nearby block suits this band because the trip stays short.

Classes 6 to 8. Fractions, algebra basics, the start of separate science topics, and steady written English. A single tutor for maths and science together is common at this stage. Ask the tutor to check one piece of school homework at the start of every class.

Classes 9 and 10. Board preparation begins in earnest. For CBSE, Class 10 now has two board examinations, the second one optional for improving marks; a tutor should plan with both in mind. For IGCSE, the work is past papers by syllabus code. See Class 10 home tutors.

Classes 11 and 12, and IB DP. Subject depth matters more than distance now. Many families pair a weekly home class with an online specialist. A physics home tutor or a maths specialist for one level is a common request from the phase.

Exam weeks in DLF Phase 1

Exam weeks here follow whichever board your child's school uses. IB Diploma students sit papers in May or November sessions. Cambridge candidates can sit papers in a March series that is open to schools in India, or in June or November. CBSE and ICSE schools set their own pre-board calendars before the board papers.

Before a busy exam month, book the extra sessions early, and consider a weekend morning slot when the Sikanderpur side is quiet. If a heavy-rain warning falls in an exam week, switch that session online rather than lose it.

Home, online or a coaching class?

At home suits a child who needs written work checked line by line, and it is easy in this phase because there is rarely a gate to clear. Most families in floors find a quiet room at the right hour.

Online suits a narrow IB or IGCSE paper, a late slot after metro hours, or a monsoon evening. See online tutors.

A coaching centre suits a child who likes working in a group to a fixed timetable. It adds a trip of its own. Many families keep a home tutor alongside to revise what was taught and fill the gaps.

A split often works: a home class once or twice a week, with one online class in between from the same tutor.

What home tuition costs in DLF Phase 1

A break from the desk

The Aravali Biodiversity Park lies near Guru Dronacharya metro, a short way north of the phase. It has trails, and its opening hours change with the season. It suits a walk before revision rather than study itself. We found no public library inside DLF Phase 1 to list.
