What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tuition in Sector 12, Gurugram: what to know first

Yes. A home tutor can come to your house in Sector 12, whether you live near Sadar Bazar, in Mianwali Colony or Adarsh Nagar, or on the 12A side by the bus stand, and online lessons are an option too. Send NXTutors the class, board and subject. We match two or three tutors who travel to Sector 12 or teach online, and show you each one's fee before you choose. The demo class is free, and you can switch tutor later without paying anything extra.

Sector 12 is part of the old commercial heart of the city, between the railway roads and the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road. Markets are close, lanes are busy and parking is tight, so the plan is about timing and directions.

Sector 12's lanes and homes

Sector 12 is an older sector of the city and is mixed-use: NoBroker calls it a developed residential and commercial locality, with mostly older construction, independent houses and builder floors, and flats let out floor by floor. Shops, clinics and small offices sit on the main roads, and homes fill the lanes behind them.

The Sadar Bazar edge

To the south-east, OpenStreetMap marks Sadar Bazar as a commercial neighbourhood. The roads that run into it, including Arya Samaj Road and Old Railway Road, stay busy for much of the day. Homes on this side are close to everything, but a tutor's last few hundred metres can be slow.

Mianwali Colony, Adarsh Nagar and Bhim Nagar

These colonies spread across the north and east of the sector. Lanes are narrow and house numbers do not always run in order, so a tutor needs a pin, the gali or street number and a nearby landmark, such as a temple, a chemist or a well-known shop.

Sector 12A and the bus stand

The neighbouring 12A, to the north-east, holds the Gurugram Bus Stand, a HUDA market, Prem Nagar and Ganga Vihar. It has its own boundary on the map. If you live there, say "12A", because a tutor heading for central Sector 12 would take a different turn.

Rented floors

NoBroker's rental listings for Sector 12 include 1, 2 and 3 BHK flats, many of them single floors in a larger house. If you rent a floor, check with the owner whether visitors can use the main gate and where they may park, and tell the tutor before the first class. It also lets the owner know who is coming up the stairs each week.

Few homes here sit inside gated complexes. That makes most visits a matter of finding the right door and a place to park, both of which you can sort out before the demo.

Which tutor fits your child?

What Sector 12 families plan around

Resident reviews on property portals describe Sector 12 in practical terms. Here is what the recurring themes mean for a tutor's visit.

  • Everything is close. Reviewers mention banks, clinics, chemists and shops nearby, and schools within a short trip. A tutor can find stationery or a photocopy shop on the way if needed.
  • Parking is tight. Several reviewers raise it. Tell the tutor exactly where to stop, or match with someone who rides a two-wheeler or uses an auto.
  • Markets are busy. Busy roads near the market and the railway roads add time. A slot that starts before the evening market rush is easier to keep.
  • No metro nearby. One reviewer finds the missing metro hard at times. Online sessions fill this gap for specialists who live far away.
  • Public transport slows at night. If the tutor relies on buses or shared autos, a class that ends early in the evening is kinder to their trip home.
  • Dust and older streets. Some reviewers mention dusty streets and older buildings. Keep the study room's windows on the quieter side closed during class, and keep the table clear.
  • A lively, family neighbourhood. Reviewers describe children playing outside and a grounded feel. After-school play is part of the day here, so time the class for after that break, not instead of it.

How a tutor reaches Sector 12

Sector 12 is closer to the metro than the western sectors, but still not walking distance. NoBroker lists MG Road on the Yellow Line at about 6.2 km and Sikanderpur on the Rapid Metro at about 7.4 km. Gurgaon railway station is about 4 km away.

By bus

Sector 12 has an advantage most sectors do not: the Gurugram Bus Stand, run by Haryana Roadways, is next door in 12A on Bus Stand Road. City and regional buses meet here, and NoBroker also lists stops at Sector 12 Chowk and Rajeev Nagar. A tutor without a vehicle can often reach the sector by bus and walk in.

By road

  • Old Railway Road and New Railway Road cross the sector and carry traffic towards the railway station side.
  • The Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road runs along the 12A side towards the bus stand and Fountain Square.
  • Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road, which NoBroker lists as a main road through the locality, links towards the eastern parts of the city.
  • Madanpuri Road and Arya Samaj Road are the inner links most tutors use for the last stretch.

Future rail links

The Gurugram Metro article lists a planned corridor through Old Gurugram via Sadar Bazar and the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road, still at the planning stage. Until it is built, the bus stand and the roads are what count.

In the request, mention whether you are on the Sadar Bazar side, in a colony lane or in 12A, and where a two-wheeler can stand. We use that to shortlist tutors whose routes already pass your way.

Doorstep, parking and safety in Sector 12

  • Meet at a fixed point. For a house in a narrow lane, meet the tutor at the nearest main road or a known shop on the first day.
  • Parking. Say whether there is space outside. If not, suggest the nearest legal spot or ask for a tutor who comes by auto or bus.
  • Builder floors. Name the floor and the bell, and say whether the staircase is shared with tenants.
  • Noise. Homes on market roads can be noisy. Choose a back room if you have one.
  • Supervision. Keep an adult at home and the study-room door open.

Every tutor who joins NXTutors goes through an ID check, made up of a one-time code on phone or email and a government photo ID checked by our team. The verification steps are explained on our site. This is not a police or background check, so be present at the demo and decide for yourself.

A woman tutor can be requested; we will then list only women who travel to Sector 12 or teach online.

Boards that come up in Sector 12

Sector 12 families ask about CBSE, ICSE and ISC, and sometimes the Haryana state board. No school on our approved list is in Sector 12; the nearest is Blue Bells Model School, a CBSE school listed in Sector 4, Urban Estate. We have no tie-up with any school, and the tutor follows your child's own books.

ICSE and ISC students often want a tutor comfortable with longer written answers and English-heavy papers. Our ICSE home tutors in Gurgaon page sets out what that involves. For a full board-by-board view, read CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE.

Tuition for each class band in Sector 12

Up to Class 5

A tutor from the next colonies or from Sectors 7 or 14 can manage frequent, short visits. Start after the child's play break, keep the session to under an hour, and focus on reading, writing and basic maths. A fixed corner at home matters more than a big desk.

Classes 6 to 8

The jump to algebra and separate science chapters is a common point to bring in help. One tutor for maths and science often works. For maths specifically, see our maths home tuition page. Ask for short tests every few weeks so gaps show early.

Classes 9 and 10

Board preparation starts in Class 9. Separate tutors for maths and science are common in Class 10. Fix a weekly plan, mark the school's pre-board dates, and keep one longer weekend session for written practice.

Classes 11 and 12

Science students usually need a subject specialist for each of physics, chemistry and maths or biology. A chemistry tutor who knows the board's marking for organic reactions is a different match from one who teaches only theory; tell us what your child finds hard. See our chemistry tutors in Gurgaon page. Commerce students often look for one tutor covering accountancy and economics.

NEET alongside school

Students preparing for NEET (UG) need biology, chemistry and physics at entrance depth, plus board marks. Some pair a coaching batch with a home tutor for school work, or choose a tutor who does both. Our NEET home tutors page explains the options. Share any coaching timetable when you ask.

Exam season for Sector 12 students

Check exam dates only on official sites: the boards for CBSE, CISCE, Cambridge and IB, and the National Testing Agency for JEE Main and NEET (UG).

In Sector 12, reviewers describe the markets as always busy, and shopping peaks around Sadar Bazar can slow a tutor's visit. If a revision week falls on a busy shopping period, move a session online or shift it to a weekend morning.

Home, online or coaching from Sector 12

Home tuition works in Sector 12 because tutors from nearby colonies and sectors can come often, and the bus stand makes public-transport trips possible.

Online tuition is useful for specialists who live across the city, for IB or IGCSE subjects, and for evenings when market traffic is heavy.

A coaching centre suits a student who works well with peers and wants frequent mock tests. Sector 12's central position makes travel to a centre easier than from the western sectors, but count the time anyway, then decide whether a home tutor is needed for school subjects as well.

Tuition fees in Sector 12

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Each tutor sets a rate, and you see it before the demo. In Sector 12, these change it:

  • Travel and parking. A tutor who lives nearby or comes by bus has an easier trip than one driving through market traffic.
  • Class and board. Senior classes and ICSE, ISC or international boards ask more of the tutor's preparation.
  • Specialists. One senior science subject or NEET-level biology usually costs more than help across several junior subjects.
  • Online classes. These cut travel out of the tutor's day.
  • Frequency. More classes a week raise the monthly total, not the hourly rate.

Settle the fee, the classes a month and what happens if a class is missed before regular lessons begin.

Quiet study places near Sector 12

OpenStreetMap places a district library a short distance south-east of Sector 12, on the Sadar Bazar side, with listed hours of 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday to Thursday. Confirm the hours before relying on it. Otherwise, a back room away from the market road is the practical study spot for most homes here.

Areas around Sector 12

  • Sector 14: shares a border with Sector 12, towards the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road.
  • Sector 7: to the west, with its own colonies and extension road.
  • Sector 5: towards the railway, where Line 2 plans a station with an Indian Railways interchange.
  • Sector 4: the urban-estate sector listing Blue Bells Model School.
  • Sector 10: farther west, past Sector 7, around Kadipur and Pataudi Road.

AI-first tutoring, with real teachers

How AI matching finds a tutor for Sector 12

You tell us the class, board, subject and where in Sector 12 you live. Our AI does the slow part of the search and returns two or three tutors who fit, not a long list to scroll. You see each tutor's fee before the free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

  1. 1. It reads your requestClass, board (CBSE, ICSE, UP Board, IB or IGCSE), subject and the time slots that suit you.
  2. 2. It ranks by fit and distanceSubject and board first, then tutors who list Sector 12 among the areas they travel to, then the rest of Old Gurugram, then Gurugram.
  3. 3. It offers online where it fitsIf home tutors for your subject are thin near Sector 12, it says so and suggests online tutors instead of stretching the distance.
  4. 4. You meet the tutorThe first class is a free demo at home or online. You decide after it, not the algorithm.

Where AI stops and people start

  • Tutors who join go through an ID check by our team (how we check tutors). Sample profiles are marked as samples.
  • Teachers set the plan and have the final say on how your child learns.

About this Area

Sector 12 is one of the busier parts of Old Gurugram. It borders Sector 13, Sector 14 and Arjun Nagar near the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road, with Sadar Bazar and the Sector 12 market nearby. Sector 12A, close to the Gurgaon bus stand, lies beside it. Housing is a mix of independent houses, builder floors and apartment buildings, with shops and offices among them.

That central, commercial character shapes tuition timing. Traffic around the markets and the bus stand builds up at rush hour, so a tutor coming from farther away may take longer in the evening than the distance suggests. Parents often find it easier to book a tutor from Sector 13, 14, 12A or Old Gurugram itself, or to choose a slot outside the peak. MG Road metro is a drive away and Gurgaon Railway Station a short drive. Home tutors from nearby sectors and online tutors are available on NXTutors, with a free demo class.
