What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Sector 17 home tuition in brief

You can have a tutor teach at home anywhere in Sector 17, whether you live in 17A, 17B, 17C or near Sukhrali, and online lessons are an option too. Share the class, board, subjects and your pocket with NXTutors. We come back with two or three tutors who travel to Sector 17 or teach online, every fee shown in advance. Your first lesson is a free demo, and a later change of tutor is free.

Sector 17 sits right at IFFCO Chowk, between NH-48 and MG Road, with an old village, Sukhrali, inside it. That mix of busy junction and quiet pockets is what decides the right tutor and the right time.

What Sector 17 is made of

Square Yards calls Sector 17 a mixed-use neighbourhood of homes and commercial buildings, close to the city's business centre. On OpenStreetMap the sector boundary takes in more than housing: the Management Development Institute campus, the IFFCO building and a corner of IFFCO Chowk itself all sit inside it.

17A

Property listings in 17A are mostly independent houses on plotted lanes, several of them close to the Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road. Square Yards and NoBroker both mention Sector 17A Park. For a tutor, 17A homes near the main road are quick to find; those deeper in need a lane name.

17B

OpenStreetMap marks the 17B market as a retail strip, and listings describe an IFFCO Colony inside 17B. Many homes here are standalone buildings with several floors let separately, so the floor and flat number matter as much as the plot.

17C and Sukhrali

Sukhrali is an old village, recorded on Wikipedia as a census town, that now sits inside the sector. OpenStreetMap shows a Sukhrali community centre, a Sector 17C road and two Sukhrali bus stops. Lanes here are narrower and older than in the plotted pockets, so this is where a tutor who already knows the area saves time.

The institute and office block

The Management Development Institute campus and the IFFCO building cover a sizeable part of the sector on the map. A home described only as "near MDI" could be on any of several sides of that campus, so name the nearest gate or road instead. OpenStreetMap marks an MDI rear gate and an MDI bus stop, which are the two points most tutors can find without help. The same goes for "near IFFCO": say whether you mean the building, IFFCO Colony in 17B or the IFFCO Chowk junction.

Small projects

NoBroker's society list for the sector includes small projects such as Sukh Residency and DLF Pink Town House. Where there is a guard, visitor entry runs through the gate; elsewhere the tutor comes to your door.

Which tutor fits your child?

What families in Sector 17 plan around

Portal summaries and reviews for Sector 17 come back to a few points, which we pass on as planning advice.

  • The junction at rush hour. Square Yards notes that being next to a major crossroads brings traffic jams at peak times. A tutor coming through IFFCO Chowk at office hours can lose a lot of time, so a class that starts before or after the peak is safer.
  • Air quality. Square Yards flags air quality as a concern, as in much of the city. On bad-air winter days, an online session spares a tutor a long ride on a two-wheeler.
  • Close to work hubs. The same summaries value the short trip to the city's business districts. For tuition, this means tutors who work part-time near MG Road or Cyber City can often fit in an evening class here.
  • Parks and markets. Square Yards lists several parks and markets, so a student has somewhere to walk between sessions and a shop nearby for stationery.
  • A lot of rental housing. NoBroker shows far more homes for rent than for sale here. Families who rent and may move should ask for a tutor who can also teach online, so lessons continue after a move.

How a tutor gets to your pocket of Sector 17

Sector 17 is one of the easier sectors to reach by road, because NH-48, the Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road and IFFCO Chowk all meet at its edge. The difficulty is the last few hundred metres, not the main trip.

By road

Tutors from the south and east usually come over the Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road flyover or through the Signature Tower Chowk underpass, both mapped next to the sector, and then turn into the pocket. Tell them whether to enter from the MG Road side or from the Sukhrali side; the two lead to very different lanes.

By metro

Square Yards lists IFFCO Chowk metro on the Yellow Line at about 3.2 km and the Millennium City Centre station at about 4.6 km. A tutor who takes the metro will need an auto or cab from the station to your door.

By bus

OpenStreetMap marks bus stops named IFFCO Chowk, MDI, Sukhrali and Sukhrali Sector 17C, and Square Yards lists the Sukhrali bus stand about a kilometre from the sector centre. These help student tutors who do not drive.

Future rail plans

OpenStreetMap also shows a proposed Airport Express Line extension drawn through this part of the city. It is a plan, not a working line, so arrange tuition around today's roads.

Directions to send

Give the pocket letter, the house or flat number, and one landmark: the MDI rear gate, the 17B market, the Sukhrali community centre or the IFFCO building.

Entry, floors and safety in Sector 17

  • Standalone buildings. Many have several flats on separate floors. Say which floor, which bell and whether the main door is kept locked.
  • Independent houses in 17A. A location pin and the house number are usually enough, with a note on which side of the house the door is.
  • Sukhrali lanes. Meet the tutor at a known point, such as the community centre or the bus stop, for the first class.
  • Small projects with a guard. Share the tutor's name and number with the guard before the demo.

Tutors who register with NXTutors complete an ID check, confirming a phone or email by one-time code and submitting a government photo ID that our team looks at; see our ID check. It is not a background or police check, so an adult should be at home for lessons and the study room door should stay open.

A woman tutor is available on request: say so, and we shortlist only women tutors who travel to Sector 17 or teach online.

Boards for Sector 17 students

Families here may want a tutor for CBSE, ICSE or ISC, the Haryana board, IB or Cambridge. Of the schools on our approved list, the one in the Old Gurugram zone is Blue Bells Model School, Sector 4, Urban Estate, a CBSE school. We have no tie-up with any school; tutors work from your child's books.

In rented homes, a family that has recently moved to the city may have a child joining a new school mid-year on a different board. Tell the tutor which board the child studied before, so the gaps can be found in the first few weeks. For the larger picture, see our guide to the four boards.

Tuition by class in Sector 17

Classes 1 to 5

Short sessions, three or four days a week, suit young children. A tutor from inside the sector or a neighbouring one can keep that pattern without crossing IFFCO Chowk at rush hour. Keep reading practice daily, even on non-tuition days.

Classes 6 to 8

The move from activity-based learning to written work is the main hurdle. Our home science tutors help with experiments and diagrams as well as notes.

Classes 9 and 10

Habits formed in Class 9 carry straight into the Class 10 board year, so families in Sector 17 often start a subject tutor here rather than waiting for Class 10; see Class 9 tutors in Gurgaon. Ask the tutor to test chapter by chapter and keep a list of weak topics.

Classes 11 and 12

For chemistry, physics and maths, the right specialist may live elsewhere in the city. A chemistry tutor in Gurgaon can teach one session at home and one online each week, which saves a second trip through the junction.

Students who will move

If the family expects to move house within the year, set up lessons so they can continue online from the start: shared notes, a regular video link and the same weekly slot.

Exam months for Sector 17 families

Take board dates only from the boards' own sites: CBSE, CISCE, the Haryana board, IB and Cambridge. JEE Main and NEET (UG) are announced by the National Testing Agency.

Two local habits help in the run-up. Book extra revision slots weeks ahead, because tutors in the central sectors fill their evenings early in the year. And on winter days with poor air, switch long revision sessions online rather than asking the tutor to ride through the junction.

Home, online or a centre: deciding in Sector 17

Home tuition suits younger children and students who need a steady routine at their own table. Sector 17's road access makes regular visits practical, provided the slot avoids the junction's peak.

Online tuition is a good fit for families who rent and may move, for senior specialists who live across the city, and for poor-air days. Our online tutors for Gurgaon students keep the same weekly slot wherever you live.

A centre works for students who want group pace and regular mock tests. The junction makes travel times unpredictable, so test the trip at the class hour before you commit.

Fees for home tuition in Sector 17

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

For a Sector 17 family, the fee inside that range depends on the class and board, the number of subjects, sessions a week, the tutor's travel through the junction, and whether senior-class or entrance specialists are needed. A blend of home and online sessions can lower travel time for the tutor.

Every matched tutor's fee is shown before the demo. The demo is free and switching tutor later is free.

Parks near Sector 17 homes

Square Yards and NoBroker name Sector 17A Park, Sector 17C Park and IFFCO Park, and NoBroker also marks an area called IFFCO Forest. OpenStreetMap shows the Sukhrali community centre. We could not source a public library inside the sector, so these are places for a break between study blocks rather than for study itself.

Areas around Sector 17

  • Sector 14: the Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road flyover is mapped along both sectors; 14 has Old DLF Colony and an older HUDA market.
  • Sector 15: Square Yards lists Sector 17 among the sectors around it; it has a walled Part 1 and a Part 2 on NH-48.
  • MG Road: the Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road runs past Sector 17 and into the MG Road business belt.
  • Sector 18: listed by NoBroker as a neighbour, with bus stops named for 17B and 18 together; no NXTutors page yet.
  • Sector 16, Sector 29 and Inayatpur: also listed nearby by NoBroker.

The Old Gurugram zone page lists every sector in this part of the city, and the Gurugram hub covers the rest.

About this Area

Sector 17 is a mixed-use sector of homes, shops and small businesses. It is split into pockets such as 17A, 17B and 17C, next to Sukhrali village and a HUDA market for everyday shopping. NH-48 runs along it, and MG Road and the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road are close. Neighbours include Sector 16, Sector 18 and Friends Colony. IFFCO Chowk metro on the Yellow Line is close by.

For a parent, the pocket you live in affects how easy the tutor's trip is. Homes near the highway side are quick to reach for tutors coming from Udyog Vihar, Cyber City or the IFFCO Chowk area. Homes deeper inside, near Sukhrali, are better served by someone who already knows the lanes, often a tutor from Sector 16, 18 or the older sectors nearby. Give the pocket letter and a landmark when you book. Home tutors from nearby sectors and online tutors are available on NXTutors, with a free demo class.

FAQs

Tell NXTutors your child's class, board and subjects, and we match two or three tutors who travel to Sector 17 or teach online. Say whether you live in 17A, 17B, 17C or Sukhrali. Fees appear before the first class, which is a free demo, and changing tutor later is free.
A Sector 17 tutor's fee depends on class, board, subjects and how often they come, within the same range we see across the city. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see the fee before the demo.
Yes, families in any pocket of Sector 17 can ask for a woman tutor, and we shortlist only women who travel there or teach online. Mention this in the request, and for the first visit to Sukhrali lanes, meet her at a known point such as the community centre.
IFFCO Chowk on the Yellow Line is the station listed closest to Sector 17, at about 3.2 km by Square Yards. Millennium City Centre is listed at about 4.6 km. A tutor who comes by metro needs an auto or cab for the last stretch.
It can be, because Sector 17 sits at IFFCO Chowk and portals note rush-hour jams at the junction. Choose a class time before or after the office peak, and tell the tutor whether to enter from the MG Road side or the Sukhrali side.
Yes, Sukhrali sits inside Sector 17, so families there can book through this page. Its lanes are older and narrower than the plotted pockets, so share a meeting point such as the Sukhrali community centre or the Sukhrali Sector 17C bus stop for the first class.
For school subjects, a Sector 17 family may find a home tutor easier because there is no trip through the junction for the child. A coaching centre suits students who want group pace and mock tests; check the travel time at the class hour before enrolling.
Tutors who travel to Sector 17 teach CBSE, ICSE and ISC, the Haryana board, IB and Cambridge between them. Tell us the board, and if your child changed board after a move, mention the old one so the tutor can check for gaps early.
Yes, you can ask for a Class 8 science tutor in Sector 17 and we will match two or three who travel there or teach online. Ask at the free demo how the tutor handles diagrams and practical work, since that is where middle-school science gets harder.
Yes, if you set lessons up in Sector 17 with an online option from the start, the same tutor can continue after a move. Keep shared notes and a regular video link, and agree the weekly slot so nothing changes except where your child sits.
In 17B, give the floor and flat number along with the plot, since many 17B buildings have separate flats on each floor. Add the 17B market or the IFFCO Colony as a landmark, and say whether the main door is kept locked.
Yes, you can ask for a Class 12 chemistry tutor for a Sector 17 home, and we match two or three who travel there or teach online. Many senior specialists take one home and one online session a week, which avoids a second trip through IFFCO Chowk.
Move that day's Sector 17 session online rather than asking the tutor to ride through the junction, since portals flag air quality here. Agree this rule at the start, and keep a laptop and the week's notebook ready so the planned lesson goes ahead.
The MDI rear gate is marked inside the Sector 17 boundary on OpenStreetMap, next to the Management Development Institute campus, with an MDI bus stop close by. Families living near the campus can use either as the meeting point for a tutor's first visit, then walk them to the house.
The pocket changes how easy the tutor's trip is. Homes near the NH-48 side are quick to reach for tutors coming from Udyog Vihar, Cyber City or the IFFCO Chowk area, while homes deeper inside, near Sukhrali, are better served by a tutor who already knows the lanes.
Often a tutor from Sector 16, Sector 18 or the older sectors nearby, because they already know the lanes deeper inside Sector 17. When you book, give your pocket letter, such as 17A, 17B or 17C, and a landmark so the tutor finds your home easily on the first day.
Yes. IFFCO Chowk metro on the Yellow Line is close by, and NH-48, MG Road and the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road are all near Sector 17. A tutor who commutes by metro has only a short last leg, especially to homes on the highway side of the sector.
