What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tuition in Sector 55: the local guide

Reviewed by NXTutors team · 16 Oct 2026 · Facts on places, roads and exams are checked against public sources.

Home tuition in Sector 55: the short answer

Yes. A home tutor can come to your flat or plotted house in Sector 55, the sector where Golf Course Road hands over to Golf Course Extension Road. Tell NXTutors the class, board and subject, and the block or apartment society you live in. We send two or three matched tutors, each with the fee on view before anything is booked. You pay nothing for the opening lesson, and a change of tutor later is free if the match does not hold.

Sector 55 sits on the Rapid Metro, at the southern end of the line, so it is one of the easier sectors in this zone for a tutor to reach without a car.

What housing in Sector 55 looks like

Sector 55 is an older sector by the standards of this zone. It was laid out as a HUDA sector, and property portals still list it mainly through residential plots, many now built up as independent houses or builder floors of three or four levels. Alongside the plots stand group-housing apartment societies of a modest size, the kind run by a cooperative or a small developer rather than a large township team.

The names that appear on portals and on OpenStreetMap include Vaastu Apartments, Progressive Apartments (a cooperative society), Pragati Apartments, Dwarkapuri, Sagavi Apartments, Siddhi Vinayak Flats, Paarth Apartments and Ansal Royale Casa. Navkriti Arcade, a commercial building on the sector's edge, is listed by one portal under the wider Sushant Lok II area, which spills across this part of Gurugram.

For a tutor, that mix matters. A plotted house usually means a street door, a doorbell and a family member to let them in. An apartment society means a guard post, a visitor register and sometimes an intercom call. Neither is hard, but the arrangements differ, so tell us which one you are when you ask for a tutor.

Beyond the residential blocks, the sector holds an eye hospital, a church, a private university campus and a cluster of everyday shops, all mapped on OpenStreetMap. Ghata village lies just beyond the sector's edge, with its own mandi. NXTutors does not count homes or guess at who lives here; what we can say is that both plotted and apartment homes ask for home tutors, for every class from primary to Class 12.

Which tutor fits your child?

What families here weigh up before a tutor starts

Public sources on Sector 55 return to a few themes again and again. We share them because each one changes how a tuition plan should be set up, not as a verdict on the sector.

  • The metro is a plus. Locality reviews on a property portal list metro and road links among the sector's strengths. A tutor who does not drive can still reach you, which widens the choice.
  • Peak-hour traffic. The same reviews mention congestion at office hours, and newspaper reports describe long snarls at AIT Chowk, where Sectors 53, 54, 55 and 56 meet. A slot that ends before the evening rush, or begins after it, keeps the tutor on time.
  • Parking on narrow lanes. Limited parking in some streets comes up in reviews. If the tutor drives, say where a car can stand for an hour.
  • Power and street lighting. Some reviewers mention power cuts and dim streets. For late classes, an inverter-backed light at the study table and a well-lit gate help both student and tutor.
  • Monsoon days. Reports of waterlogging on Golf Course Extension Road and near Sector 54 after heavy rain suggest keeping an online fallback for those evenings.

How a tutor gets to Sector 55

By Rapid Metro. Sector 55–56 station opened on 31 March 2017 and is the last stop of Rapid Metro Line 1. It is elevated, owned by HMRTC and run by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. From Sikanderpur, where the line meets the Delhi Metro Yellow Line, a tutor rides south along Golf Course Road through Sector 42-43, Sector 53-54 and Sector 54 Chowk to reach it. One portal puts the station about a kilometre from the middle of the sector, so the last stretch is a short walk or auto ride.

By road. Golf Course Road arrives from the north through AIT Chowk; Golf Course Extension Road leaves to the south-west towards Sectors 57 to 66. Local roads named on portals include Raghvendra Marg, Rajesh Pilot Road and the Sector 56 main road. Tutors coming from Sohna Road or the Extension Road side usually approach from the south and avoid the chowk altogether.

By bus. A Sector 55/56 bus stop is mapped on OpenStreetMap, and portals list further stops nearby, including one at Alaknanda in Sector 54.

In practice, the tutors most able to make a twice-weekly visit are those who live along the metro line or in nearby sectors such as Sector 54, Sector 56 and Sector 57. A tutor from further away may suit weekends.

Gates, floors and safety in Sector 55

Because Sector 55 mixes plotted streets with small apartment societies, the first visit goes smoothly when you plan for your kind of home.

  • Plotted house or builder floor: give the plot number and the lane, and say which floor is yours; on a three- or four-storey building the bell panel can be confusing.
  • Apartment society: send the society name, tower and flat, and add the tutor at the guard post before the demo. Some smaller societies keep a paper register, others an app.
  • Who is at home: keep an adult at home, at least for the first few classes, and seat the lesson in a shared room with the door open.

Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check: they confirm their phone with a one-time code and upload a government photo ID that our team reviews (how the ID check works). It is not a police or background check, so meet the tutor at the demo and trust what you see. If you want a woman tutor, ask for one when you send the request; see women home tutors in Gurgaon.

Boards Sector 55 families ask about

No school on our approved Gurugram list sits inside Sector 55 itself, but several are a short drive away, which is why requests from here span almost every board. Named neutrally and in alphabetical order, with no tie-up implied: Heritage Xperiential Learning School in Sector 62 follows CBSE; Lancers International School in Sector 53, DLF Phase 5, runs IB PYP, MYP and DP and Cambridge IGCSE; Scottish High International School in Sector 57 offers IB PYP and DP, Cambridge IGCSE and ICSE/ISC; Suncity School in Sector 54 follows CBSE.

For a home tutor, the board decides the books, the order of topics and how answers are marked, so name it on day one. If your child is moving from one board to another, say so; the first month then becomes a bridging month. Our board-by-board comparison sets out how the four systems differ.

What tutoring looks like, class by class

Nursery to Class 5

Early years go well with short, frequent sessions at home: reading aloud, number sense, handwriting and the homework diary. A tutor who lives along the metro line can manage three short visits a week more easily than one long drive. Keep each session under an hour for the youngest children.

Classes 6 to 8

These years add separate science subjects and a heavier maths load. One tutor for maths and science together is common; ask the tutor at the demo how they will check written work, not only explain it.

Classes 9 and 10

Board years. Families here ask most for maths, science and English, with a weekly test and marked answer sheets in the pattern of their own board. A Class 10 home tutor should know how your board awards marks for steps, diagrams and working.

Classes 11 and 12

Subjects split by stream, and a single tutor rarely covers everything. Many students take one specialist for physics or maths and another for chemistry or accounts. Our maths tuition in Gurgaon and physics tutors in Gurgaon pages describe what each specialist brings. For IB DP or A-level work, check the tutor has taught that exact course.

Entrance preparation

For JEE or NEET, a home tutor often sits alongside a coaching programme, clearing doubts and setting timed practice. Say which mock series your child is following so the tutor can plan around it.

Exam season in Sector 55

Requests from a mixed-board sector come in waves. CBSE students prepare for board papers early in the year; CBSE has also introduced a second Class 10 board examination from 2026, meant for improvement, so some families now plan revision in two rounds. CISCE publishes the ICSE and ISC timetables on its own site. IB Diploma students sit papers in May or November, and Cambridge runs March, June and November series. Start a tutor at least a term ahead of the paper; in the last few weeks, good tutors have the fewest free slots.

Home, online or a coaching centre?

Sector 55 has an unusual choice: the metro makes a coaching centre on Golf Course Road reachable for a teenager, and the same metro makes home visits easy for tutors. So the question is less about distance and more about the child.

  • Home tuition suits children who need someone to sit beside them, check every line and build a habit. It is the only option that fits a Class 3 child well.
  • Online tuition suits older students with a fixed timetable, and covers monsoon evenings and exam weeks when travel is slow. See online tutors for Gurgaon students.
  • A coaching centre gives a classroom pace and peer competition, but little time for one student's gaps. Many Class 11–12 students pair it with a home tutor once or twice a week.

A hybrid plan suits many Sector 55 families: one home class a week, the rest online.

What home tuition costs in Sector 55

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Tutors price their own time, and the figure is on your shortlist before any class happens. In Sector 55 the main levers are these:

  • Class and board. Senior classes, IB and IGCSE need more preparation per session than a primary class.
  • Specialism. A tutor who teaches only one subject at an advanced level usually charges more than a generalist.
  • Travel. A tutor who rides the metro to Sector 55–56 and walks over has an easier trip than one driving across AIT Chowk at rush hour; journey effort shows up in the fee.
  • Frequency and length. Longer or more frequent sessions change the monthly total, so agree the plan before comparing tutors.

Quiet places to study near Sector 55

We could not find a public library inside Sector 55 in any source we trust, so we do not list one. Property portals mention Smriti Vatika and a walking trail among nearby green spaces, useful for a break between study blocks rather than for study itself. At home, a corner away from the street side of the house is quieter, especially on lanes near Golf Course Road.

Sectors and societies near Sector 55

  • Sector 54: across AIT Chowk to the north, with two Rapid Metro stations of its own.
  • Sun City: the township in Sector 54 that portals list among Sector 55's neighbours.
  • Sector 56: shares the Sector 55–56 station name and the bus stop.
  • Sushant Lok Phase 2: the Ansal colony whose plots and floors reach into this part of the city.
  • Sector 57: along Golf Course Extension Road, with Hong Kong Bazaar.
  • Sector 58: further down the Extension Road, near the start of the Southern Peripheral Road.
First demo checklist for Sector 55

About this Area

Sector 55 opens the Golf Course Extension Road zone, whose sectors run on our map from 55 to 66. No housing project in Sector 55 has a page of its own yet, so this page serves every home in the sector. Pages listed near it include M3M Sky City Residences, M3M St Andrews (Golfestate), Mahindra Luminare and Pioneer Park.

PIN 122011 is on record for Sector 55, and more than a dozen area pages share it, including Sector 56, Sector 57, Sun City and Sushant Lok Phase 2. Someone with the same PIN could live in any of them, so tell us your block or society name and the suggestions will fit better. Ireo Grand Arch, Paras Exotica and Vipul Belmonte share it too.

Both listed schools in the zone lie outside Sector 55: Heritage Xperiential Learning School in Sector 62 (CBSE) and Scottish High International School in Sector 57 (ICSE and ISC, IB (PYP, DP), Cambridge IGCSE). If no tutor close by fits your board or subject, see online tutoring in Gurgaon. Each tutor's fee appears on the card before the demo. Tell us which board your child follows, whatever the school.

FAQs

Send NXTutors the class, board, subject and your Sector 55 block or society, and we suggest two or three matched tutors. Each tutor's fee is on that shortlist before booking, the opening class is free, and changing tutor at any later point is free as well.
Each tutor in Sector 55 sets a fee, and you see it on your shortlist before the free demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Locally the amount depends on the class, board, subject and travel.
Yes, you can ask for a woman tutor for any class in Sector 55, and we only suggest women tutors for that request. Mention it with the class and subject, and the free demo lets you and your daughter meet her before deciding.
Sector 55–56 on the Rapid Metro is the nearest station, and it is the southern end of the line. Trains run north along Golf Course Road to Sikanderpur, where riders change to the Delhi Metro Yellow Line. One portal puts the station about a kilometre from the middle of the sector.
For most children below Class 9, home tuition in Sector 55 is the better fit, because the tutor can check every line of work. Older students sometimes join a centre for pace and add a home tutor once or twice a week for their weak topics.
Tutors who travel to Sector 55 teach CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and Cambridge IGCSE, because schools on several boards are a short drive away. Tell us the board and the textbook titles, so each tutor we suggest starts from your child's actual syllabus.
Yes, tutors visit plotted houses and builder floors in Sector 55 as readily as apartment societies. Share the plot number, lane and which floor is yours, because a multi-storey house with several bells can confuse a first-time visitor. If a car needs space outside, say where it can stand during the class.
Yes, you can ask for a senior maths tutor for Classes 11 and 12 in Sector 55, for CBSE, ISC, IB or A-level. Say whether your child also prepares for JEE, since that changes how the tutor plans practice and timed tests.
In Sector 55, a slot that avoids the office rush at AIT Chowk is the most reliable for a tutor who drives. Early evening before the rush, or later after it, both work. A tutor who comes by Rapid Metro is less affected, so ask how they plan to travel.
Yes, a student in Sector 55 can start online and move to home classes, or mix both, with the same tutor if their timetable allows. Many families keep online sessions for monsoon evenings and exam weeks, when roads near the Extension Road can be slow.
Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check, confirming their phone and uploading a government photo ID for our team to review. It is not a police or background check, so meet the tutor at the free demo and keep an adult at home for the first classes.
Yes, families in Sector 55 can ask for IB or Cambridge IGCSE tutors, and we match the exact course and level. For IB, say whether it is PYP, MYP or DP and which subjects are at Higher Level, as that narrows the tutors who fit.
A demo in Sector 55 starts once you pick a tutor from the two or three we suggest and agree a slot that suits both of you. We do not promise a fixed time, because it depends on each tutor's week, but a clear request with class, board and slot helps.
Possibly, as both are listed near Sector 55 in the same Golf Course Extension Road zone. Tutors living in Sector 55 or coming here to teach lead the list; others from the zone, possibly including those two, follow, then the rest of Gurugram and online tutors. Each card says why it appears.
Yes. This sector page covers every home in Sector 55, including societies without a page of their own. A society page may be added later; until then, start here. Give us the society name, block and house number in your request, and add the tutor to the security list if your society asks for one.
