What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tuition in Sector 4: the local guide

Reviewed by NXTutors team · 16 Oct 2026 · Facts on places, roads and exams are checked against public sources.

Home tutors in Sector 4, Gurugram: the short answer

Yes. A home tutor can come to your house or floor in Sector 4, and online lessons cover the evenings when a visit does not suit. Send NXTutors the class, board and subject with your house number and the road you live off, and we suggest two or three matched tutors. Every fee is on the shortlist, the first class is a free demo, and changing tutor later costs nothing.

Sector 4 belongs to the Old Gurugram zone of Gurugram. It is a plotted HUDA sector beside the railway side of the old city, so most tutors reach it by two-wheeler or car, not by metro.

How Sector 4 is laid out

Sector 4 is an older plotted sector that HUDA laid out on the railway side of Gurugram. On OpenStreetMap its boundary takes in a grid of residential lanes, with Gymkhana Road and Huda Market Road as the two named streets running inside it. Old Railway Road forms one edge and Dhanwapur Road another. Across those edges lie Sector 3A, Sector 5, Sector 7 and Sector 9A.

The commercial heart is the Huda market, and the stretch around the Sector 4/7 Chowk works as the shared high street for Sectors 4 and 7. Several bank branches are mapped together inside the sector, along with a government urban health centre. A building mapped as the Museum of Folk and Tribal Art also sits within the boundary, and NoBroker lists a HUDA Gymkhana Club among local places, which explains the name of Gymkhana Road.

Homes are almost all on plots. Some plots hold a single family house; many have been rebuilt as builder floors with one family on each level. That shapes a tutor visit in a simple way: there is no society gate, no visitor app and no guard to brief, but there is also no reception to point a lost tutor in the right direction. Clear directions do the work a gate would do.

Because Sector 4 sits between the market and the railway line, the lanes near the chowk carry shop traffic for much of the day, while the inner lanes are quieter. If your home is near the market end, mention it, so the tutor knows to allow time for the busy stretch.

One more local detail helps. Sector 4 borders four other sectors on short dividing roads, and the sector number on a gate is not always obvious from the street. A tutor who knows they are looking for Sector 4, not 3A or 7 across the road, finds the right lane faster, so repeat the sector number with the house number in your first message.

Which tutor fits your child?

What Sector 4 parents weigh before booking

Reviews of Sector 4 on property portals and local news coverage come back to a handful of themes. Here is what each one means for a tuition plan.

  • Peak-hour traffic. Portal reviewers say the area gets busy at office hours and that some roads need repair. Starting a lesson after the evening rush gives a tutor driving in from another sector a steadier arrival time.
  • Crowding at the Sector 4/7 Chowk. A Tribune report described encroachment by vendors along the stretch from Dreamz Mall in Sector 4 to the railway station, and GMDA has run clearance drives on the roads that divide Sectors 4/7, 4/5 and 4/3A. Treat the chowk as a slow point and route a tutor around it where possible.
  • Parking. Parking scores lower than most other items in portal reviews. Tell the tutor where a scooter or car can stand outside your plot without blocking a neighbour.
  • Rain. News reports have listed Sector 4 and the Sector 4 market among places that held water after heavy showers, and traffic police watched the Sector 4/7 Chowk on a rainy day. Agree that a downpour turns the class into an online one.
  • Everyday convenience. Reviewers also say shops, clinics and transport are within reach. For a tutor, that means a familiar landmark is never far from your door.

How a tutor reaches Sector 4

Road is the normal route. A tutor coming from the newer parts of the city usually reaches Old Railway Road or New Railway Road and turns in near the Sector 4/7 Chowk. From Sector 9A or Sector 9 the way in is across Dhanwapur Road. From Palam Vihar and Sector 3 the approach is through Sector 3A, along the road that divides it from Sector 4.

There is no metro in the sector today. NoBroker lists Millennium City Centre on the Yellow Line as the nearest station, a drive away, so a tutor who uses the metro will finish the trip by auto or bus. Buses do help: portals list stops at the Sector 4/Sector 7 Chowk, at Laxman Vihar and at the Sector 4/Sector 5 crossing, which gives a tutor without a vehicle a way in.

Gurgaon railway station on Railway Road is close to the sector. It suits a tutor who lives along the suburban rail line, though for most people the road is simpler.

Change is on paper but not dated. Gurugram Metro Line 2 is planned to run from Millennium City Centre through the old city to Cyber City, and its second phase lists a Sector 4 station. That phase is still being planned, and GMDA has been studying how to fit metro and road works into the tight Old Railway Road corridor. Until a line opens, plan tuition around the roads you have.

Plots, parking and safety for a Sector 4 visit

With no society gate, the first visit to a Sector 4 home is mostly about directions and arrival.

  • Directions: send the house number, the lane, and the nearest named road, such as Gymkhana Road or Huda Market Road, plus a location pin.
  • Builder floor: say which floor and whether the shared ground-floor door is kept locked. A tutor waiting outside a locked grille loses the start of the class.
  • Parking: point out one spot for a two-wheeler or car before the first day.
  • Rain plan: keep the online link ready for monsoon evenings.

Tutors on NXTutors complete an ID check with our team before they teach; the steps are on how we verify tutors. It is not a police or background check, so sensible habits still count: an adult at home for the demo, the lesson in a shared room, and a quick word with your child afterwards. If you would prefer a woman tutor, say so in the request; read more on female home tutors in Gurugram.

Boards Sector 4 families ask about

Requests from the old sectors name CBSE, ICSE and the Haryana board, and sometimes the international boards. On our approved Gurugram school list, Blue Bells Model School in Sector 4, Urban Estate follows CBSE. We name it only to show the board in use nearby; NXTutors has no link with any school, and we match on your child's board and books, whichever school they attend.

In a plotted home, a tutor can work at a dining table or a study desk without gate passes or visiting hours, which makes it easy to add a short extra session before a test. If your child studies on the Haryana board, say so clearly, because the books and paper pattern differ from CBSE.

For the full comparison of boards, read CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE. For CBSE help at home, see CBSE tutors who teach at home in Gurgaon.

Tuition in Sector 4 by class

Classes 1 to 5

Young children do well with a tutor who lives a short ride away, because frequent, shorter sessions beat one long weekly class. In a builder floor, a corner of the living room with a fixed table is enough. Ask the tutor to send a two-line note after each session on reading, writing and maths so you can keep practice going between visits.

Classes 6 to 8

The jump to longer chapters in Maths and Science shows up here. One tutor for both often works, with English added if reading is slow. Ask for a look at the school diary every week so the lessons follow the school plan.

Classes 9 and 10

Board-year students need a fixed timetable and regular written tests. A Class 10 home tutor who knows your board's paper pattern can plan revision rounds well ahead of the exam. Keep one evening a week flexible for school tests and practicals.

Classes 11 and 12

Here the subject decides the tutor. Physics, Chemistry and Maths specialists may live in other parts of the city, so some families pair two home sessions with one online. For Physics, see physics tutors for home lessons in Gurgaon.

Entrance preparation

JEE and NEET study runs alongside school. For a Sector 4 student, a weekend home session for problem practice and weekday online slots for doubts is a pattern that avoids peak traffic on both sides.

Exam season in Sector 4

Board timetables come only from the boards: CBSE, CISCE, the Haryana board (BSEH), IB and Cambridge each publish their own. For CBSE Class 10, the board now offers a second exam within the year, as set out in its scheme document. Locally, the extra planning is about road time: market traffic near the Sector 4/7 Chowk and winter fog both stretch a tutor's trip, so book revision slots earlier in the evening and keep an online fallback for the last fortnight.

Home, online or a centre for a Sector 4 student

Home tuition suits Sector 4 well because a plotted house has no gate routine and the tutor walks straight in. You pay for the tutor's travel as part of the fee, and traffic around the market can make that travel longer at some hours.

Online lessons remove the road entirely. They help on rainy evenings, for senior subjects where the right person lives far away, and for short doubt sessions before tests. Read more on online tuition for Gurgaon students.

A centre means your child does the travelling, often across the busy chowk at the same hour as office traffic. Families who choose a centre for entrance work often keep a home tutor for school subjects, so the board syllabus is not left behind.

Home tuition fees in Sector 4

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Tutors on NXTutors set their own rates, and the shortlist shows them before you book a demo. In Sector 4 the main drivers are the class and board, the subject, the number of sessions a week, and the tutor's distance from you. A tutor from Sector 5 or 7 may charge less for travel than one crossing the city from Sohna Road. An online session usually carries no travel element. Ask whether tests, worksheets and progress notes are part of the fee.

Quiet study spots near Sector 4

We did not find a public library mapped inside Sector 4 in the sources we checked, so this section is short. The study spot that matters is at home: a room away from the market side of the lane, a steady table and good light, and the same place for every session.

  • Sector 7: across the Sector 4/7 Chowk, sharing the same market stretch.
  • Sector 5: the next sector across the Sector 4/5 dividing road, with its own bus stop at the crossing.
  • Sector 9: beside Sector 9A, which meets Sector 4 along Dhanwapur Road; a common start point for tutors.

About this Area

Sector 4 is a settled residential sector in Old Gurugram, built mainly as HUDA plots with independent houses and builder floors rather than high-rise towers. The roads residents use most are Old Railway Road and Rezang La Marg, and Gurgaon Railway Station is close by along Old Railway Road. Sector 5, Sector 7, Sector 3A and Sector 9A lie around it, and the Sector 4/7 market serves both neighbourhoods.

What this means for tuition: because most homes are houses or floors, a tutor comes straight to your door rather than through a society gate. A tutor already teaching in Sector 5, 7 or 9A can reach you on local roads without joining NH-48. A tutor from the newer sectors along Sohna Road or the Dwarka Expressway has to cross the city, so ask about travel time before you fix a weekday slot. Home tutors from nearby sectors and online tutors are available on NXTutors, with a free demo class.

FAQs

Tell NXTutors the class, board and subject, along with your Sector 4 house number and nearest road, and we suggest two or three matched tutors. Each fee appears before you choose. The opening lesson is a free demo, and you can switch tutor later at no cost.
Sector 4 fees follow the NXTutors range, with each tutor setting a rate shown before the demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Yes, you can ask for a woman tutor for your Sector 4 home, and we match on that together with subject, class and board. Tutors who join go through an ID check by our team. Keep the first session in a shared room while everyone settles in.
No metro station is open in or beside Sector 4; the Yellow Line at Millennium City Centre is the nearest, a drive away. Line 2 plans list a Sector 4 station in its second phase, still at planning stage with no date, so tutors come by road for now.
Mention the nearest of Gymkhana Road, Huda Market Road, Old Railway Road or Dhanwapur Road, plus your house number in Sector 4. Add a location pin and say if you are near the Sector 4/7 Chowk, because the market stretch there can slow the last stretch.
Yes, NXTutors can match a Class 10 home tutor for Sector 4, often someone travelling in from Sector 5, 7 or 9. Share your board and the school's current chapter list, so the shortlist fits the syllabus and the tutor can plan revision rounds before the exam.
Sector 4 families ask about CBSE tutors, and also about ICSE and the Haryana board. Blue Bells Model School in Sector 4 follows CBSE, per our approved list. We have no link with any school and match tutors to your child's board and books.
For school subjects, home tuition fits Sector 4 well because plotted homes have no gate routine and the tutor comes straight in. Online lessons suit rainy evenings and senior specialists. A centre adds daily travel through the busy chowk, so count that before choosing.
Yes, a maths tutor for a Class 8 student in Sector 4 is a common request, and nearby sectors give a good choice of route. Ask the tutor to check the school notebook weekly, so the lessons follow the class plan rather than racing ahead.
It can, because news reports describe vendor encroachment and narrowing at the Sector 4/7 Chowk, and traffic police watch it on rainy days. Fix a start time after the evening rush, or ask the tutor to approach from the side away from the chowk.
Plan to switch it to an online class, because news reports have named Sector 4 and its market among spots that held water after heavy rain. Agree this at the demo so nobody has to decide at the last minute, and your child keeps the lesson.
Parking is a known pinch point in Sector 4, so show the tutor one spot for a scooter or car outside your plot before the first visit. If the lane is narrow, suggest a nearby side road, and tell the tutor whether the downstairs door will be locked.
Yes, one tutor can teach two children in a Sector 4 home when their classes and subjects sit close enough to share one evening. Mention both in your request. Lessons may run back to back, and the fee normally reflects the added time.
Usually not. Sector 4 is built mainly as HUDA plots with independent houses and builder floors rather than high-rise towers, so the tutor comes straight to your door. Share your house number and a landmark near Old Railway Road or Rezang La Marg, and the first class can start without any gate-entry routine.
A tutor already teaching in Sector 5, 7 or 9A is the easiest fit, because they can reach you on local roads without joining NH-48. The page lists tutors by distance, starting with those in Sector 4 and those who travel here, then nearby sectors, the rest of Gurugram and online options.
It can work, but plan for it. A tutor from the newer sectors along Sohna Road or the Dwarka Expressway has to cross the city to reach Sector 4, so ask about travel time before you fix a weekday slot. A later fixed slot, or some online classes, can keep the schedule steady.
NXTutors shares two or three matched tutors for your request, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo. The first class is a free demo, so your child can try the tutor at home in Sector 4 before you commit. If the tutor does not work out later, switching tutor is free.
On our Gurugram school list, Sector 4 has Blue Bells Model School, which follows CBSE. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school. Tell us your child's board, class and the books the school uses, and the tutors we suggest will teach that syllabus, whichever school your child attends.
